“Very satisfactory overnight stay”
Reviewed 19 December 2013

Warm welcome from check-in staff for my one night stay. VERY long walk to my room as the hotel is much bigger than you think. Frustrating that I got all the way there only to find my key did not work - had to go all the way back, complete with case. But the restaurant staff at dinner and breakfast were friendly, even though the food was average (but priced accordingly, so no real gripe there). The room and bathroom were large and extremely clean with a lovely view of fields. Very quiet. A ten minute bus ride directly into the heart of the city, costing £1 each way, saved a £17 full day car park charge. Would certainly stay again.

Room Tip: Call ahead if you want to ensure you don't have a massively long walk to your room!

We stayed overnight at the end of October. Check in was quick and efficient and the room was very clean and comfortable. We stayed in the main building and this was not noisy. The gym was small but perfectly adequate for a quick early morning workout. We didn't sample the restaurant as we were in Oxford for a dinner event, and then met up with friends the following morning for breakfast. A lovely stroll into the city and ample parking. I will definitely stay here again.

Arrived on a Sunday afternoon with parties in full swing. Staff unfazed and reception faultless. A short walk or £1 bus-ride to city centre (yes.....a bus-ride) and on returning later that same evening to settle into the bar/lounge, I was discreetly advised of quieter areas where I could imbibe should the aforementioned ongoing parties disturb..........not necessary as everyone was enjoying themselves and I hate a funereal atmosphere......................

Not that any disturbance from such festivities was evident in the room, which was excellent in all respects.

Monday evening altogether somewhat quieter but nonetheless the Doombar went down just as well.

Breakfast the following morning left nothing to be desired either..................do you know, I just might possibly be back......................

Attended this hotel for a Christmas party on Saturday with friends and colleagues. The service was good and the food was excellent. I think the only thing that lets this hotel down is the lack of toilets and a very expensive bar, a single spirit & a mixer is £4.65, this being more expensive than a Central London pub or bar (London prices are around £3.70-£4.20). Venue was clean and tidy. Also they had a coat check. If you're staying or attending for a function, it may be best to have a few drinks else where before hand.

This is a wonderful hotel which has clean rooms, convenient location, and a fantastic breakfast for a very reasonable price. I would definitely stay here again when I have to be in the Oxford area. The front desk staff gave me plenty of good ideas for places to eat in Oxford and was very helpful guiding me to my next visit the following day.

Room Tip: I stayed in room #3 which was close to the breakfast in the morning and close to lobby.

There's a lot that's positive to be said about this hotel. Firstly, its position is great for tourists who don't mind a ten minute walk to the sights of Oxford, for most of the walk is along the riverbank. It also means that it's quiet with no traffic noise. Secondly, its external appearance is very attractive, a modern building with a traditional feel, and there's lots of land around it. Inside, it is highly efficient and very comfortable, though with that bland character which applies to many modern hotels. My room was large and spacious and again, efficient and comfortable. The hotel would be a good choice for business people or for tourists to Oxford, but it's the sort of hotel that you remember with gratitude rather than affection.

This is a good standard hotel. Not luxury but fits the requirements of most travellers. Very good for business and tourist although a walk to the centre of Oxford, probably needed after an excellent breakfast. Better to eat dinner in Oxford although reasonable food if not looking for anything too fancy. Bar menu is good. Rooms of a good size and clean with nice bathrooms. Very quiet so a good nights sleep. Good choice if not looking for anything too special, excellent staff and a warm welcome. Much better than the other Four Pillars in Abingdon.

Room Tip: If you are not very mobile ask for a room close to lift or reception, you can end up walking a long...
