On arrival we were frustrated to see we had to pay for parking. Checking with the receptionist she said it was a different company and everyone had to pay, the only alternative was the park and ride car park across the road at £2 instead of £3 for 24 hours (it was not clear whether that had to be 24 consecutive hours or 24 in total). Know it is not expensive but it is the principal of not having this clearly noted at the time of booking. We also found out later that in fact not everyone had to pay and it was free for blue disabled badge holders but nothing on the machine told you this. We also learnt later that the camera either isn't working or isn't there any more and in fact no one needed to pay !

The hotel has recently been refurbished and the rooms are bright and clean although a little clinical. We found the new bed a bit too firm for our liking and very high up which could make it difficult for some people to get in and out.

It was a hot day and the room windows were closed when we arrived but even after opening them there was no air as we were facing an inside courtyard.

We collected a fan from reception but this was of little help. The corridors were also far too hot.

We tried to have a cooling bath but even the coldest setting produced water that was too warm for our needs. Supplied toiletries were a hand soap dispenser and another over the bath with shower gel/shampoo.

Between 2 people there were 2 tea bags, 2 decaff and 2 reg coffee so if you both drank tea this would only make you one cup each.

The location is good and the service station is handy for the Waitrose shop and some eating places. Park and ride across the road is very useful.

Initially the girl on reception was somewhat brusque but we later spoke to a man who was much more friendly and helpful.

Guess the parking and the overly hot room were our only real complaints taking the price and everything into consideration.

Room Tip: Room 105 was quiet but very hot in the summer. Think you would need to specifically tell reception...

We stayed on a Monday and had a room upstairs on the pub side rather than the ASDA side. We found the staff friendly and helpful and our room clean with a beautiful comfortable bed. Lucky I'm fit as no lift. ASDA handy for breakfast food. No noise at night from the pub on our nights. The room was rather warm and would have benefitted from some air con.

The Wheatley Travelodge is superbly located for visiting Oxford, just a couple of miles from the excellent park & ride. Within walking distance there is a Harvestor Inn for dinner (which was great), and an Asda for anything else. The hotel itself was clean, with good size well maintained room, and I wuld have no hesitation to returning here next time we visit. Its not air conditioned (but we didn't expect it to be) which did make sleeping a bit troublesome.

I am a great fan of Travelodges and generally find them terrific value for money, however I thought this one was slightly overpriced at £50 per night. There was no cafe, and the ASDA across the road didn't have one either, or sell chilled drinks, to my husband's annoyance!
The room was fine apart from them initially only giving us one towel between 3 of us. However we were next to the door at the end of the corridor which people were slamming continuously from 6 am, and the fire alarm bleeped for the whole of our two night stay. We reported this but the only response we got was that they couldn't even move us as they had no more family rooms! I hope there is no safety issue as we never found out why it was beeping.

Room Tip: Away from internal doors.

Most of the staff seemed reasonably friendly. There is an Asda and a bus stop across the road. That is all the positive comment I can make.
There is no lift in the hotel- I received very little help a little too late, lugging my 20kg suitcase up the flimsy stairs.
The room itself was basic (fair enough, it -is- a travelodge) but in serious need of a good clean and some t.l.c. ... You don't expect modern aesthetics... but the old, striped tiles in the bathroom really were enough to make you feel ill.....
The rooms don't really have air conditioning- which, in this summer heat, made them rather uncomfortable and smelt of whatever was being "cooked" at the Harvester next door.
You only get two minuscule bars of soap in the bathroom. The kettle looked grubby and very off-putting, needless to say I didn't use it.
When I arrived, there were hairs in the bath and the toilet was very badly stained- I hope it was just age.... but no, the brown stain around the rim of the seat turned out be more sinister.... half way through the week, the bottom of the toilet must have seen some bleach, as the stains were noticeably lighter- couldn't they have done this before my arrival?
One day there was even -extra- hair in the sink, after "room service" had been. Most days the bins were changed, but once or twice I was left with an overflow problem.... The bed sheets were a little hairy on closer inspection too and weren't changed at all during my two week stay.
You wouldn't want to eat here, so it's just as well they don't serve a fresh breakfast... at least there is an Asda handy, where I could go and buy supplies...
If you can't book into a B & B, take dettol wipes, rubber gloves, hand soap (plus the usual hygiene products) and something for breakfast.

Room Tip: If you plan to take heavy luggage, or struggle with stairs- request a downstairs room.

Hotel was sweltering hot with little ventilation in the room, and what could be achieved by opening the window was negated by the smoke and fumes coming from the kitchen of the Harvester next door.

Aside from this the room was reasonably clean, wifi (paid) worked well and the bed was comfortable although a little soft for my liking

Stayed here for a week on business and was happy to leave.

We arrived at 9pm to find the reception desk unmanned, but someone did arrive after 5 minutes. Check in was perfectly adequate, but the receptionist was not particularly friendly. The room was larger than other travel lodges I have stayed in with good hanging space for clothing. There was aTV and tea and coffee making facilities. My main gripe was the fact that only one towel and a microscopic bottle of shower gel was provided for a family room supposed to sleep 4 people. As reception was unmanned it was not possible to request extra supplies. The hotel was quite tricky to find as it is not sign posted from the main road. It is located on a business park with a large Asda store and a Harvester restaurant. The breakfast box on offer looked totally uninspiring, so we ventured into Oxford where Brown's were offering a full English breakfast for the same price as a muffin and a bottle of juice at Travelodge. Room was generally clean but I did notice that the vents above the shower had not been cleaned in months and were totally clogged with fluff. All in all a good location to stay at a reasonable price whilst we were attending University open days. If I had paid the full price of £91 per night I would have felt totally robbed, but at £35 it was perfectly acceptable.
