My friend and I booked this hotel several months in advance for a 2 night stay , on 6th and 14 th Sept. We were checked it to a room which on entry smelt of fresh paint and another smell we couldn't quite identify . After being in the room for a short while with the windows open we thought it had gone . However during the night we both woke up with migraine type headaches. The next morning we complained and was told we should have asked to change rooms. I answered that we shouldn't of had to, as the hotel should not have put us in the room if they were aware it was a problem . (it transpired that they were aware, as we later saw on reviews on this site.) The hotel was very quiet so other rooms should have been available From outside on the roof and on the ceiling inside , it appeared as though they had had a fairly recent problem with damp. We also were very disappointed with the service at dinner . At breakfast , staff were slow and disinterested and the food under cooked .
As we were so unhappy we cancelled on 2nd night stay . We were promised contact via email from the manger by receptionist , as the receptionist said he had no authority to do anything regarding our stay. It is now a week later and the promised contact never happened . Overpriced unsatisfactory disappointing
