“great stay again”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 May 2014

This is the 3rd time that we have stayed at this holiday inn, and never been disappointed, we stayed one night this trip as we needed to be at a family party for 1230, check in was not until 3pm but the staff allowed us to check in early, so we could get to our party on time, the staff could not be more helpful. And as usual the hotel was spotlessly clean throughout. We will be staying there when we come back to oxford

Room Tip: Ask for a high room, it wil be quiet.

I gave 4* not for the great amenities as it is a budget hotel but it does exactly what it says on the tin!!..clean large room..more than adequate breakfast..pleasant helpful staff..cinema bowling & some restaurants 5 mins walk away. request a quiet room. Its located right next to the football stadium so 20 mins away from the centre of oxford..not great for a night out in oxford but good if you want to explore oxforfordshire are in the area for business or going to football!! used it as an overnight stop enroute to avoid the m25 on a bank holiday friday!!

Dear Guest
Thank you for posting your comments. I am pleased that the hotel suited your needs. I would just like to mention that access into Oxford for a night out is very easy. We have £10 fixed price taxi arrangement, there are also a local buses 1 and 5, and also there is Park & Ride nearby.

The most extraordinarily bad hotel I have stayed in - ever. Unable to find the hotel we rang and asked for help. Its near the football stadium, he said. Where's that, I asked? Next to the hotel, he said. Well that cleared that up then. Having eventually found it, check in was then a problem. Couldn't find the booking and then looked again.. Gave us somebody else's details to sign. Eventually sorted it out. No apologies, no explanation. Demanded a credit card to charge £30 for 'extras' (What extras? Breakfast was included, there is no mini-bar, and nothing else to spend money on - its a joke.) The manners and couldn't care less welcome were appalling. As we left to go to the room I looked back. The look I got was dreadful. The room turned out to be dusty - not great for an asthmatic. There was a broken plug socket with wires visible through a gap into which small fingers could be inserted. The TV was, as usual with all hotels to be fair, of poor quality, picture out of focus and generally impossible to use simply and easily. I asked for an iron and ironing board to be sent up. 'We don't do room service!' You mean I have to come and get it? (This is a three star hotel allegedly, not Mrs Smith's little B&B.). 'Yes', he said. That, need it be said, is not 'room service'; its called 'good service'. There's a difference. Went back to the desk and had the iron and board passed to me over the desk by one of three counter staff (let's not dignify it as a reception area). I said I was unhappy with the service. So complain, I was told. The arrogance and charmless conduct was a disgrace. Photos were taken and passed to IHG, of which Group this hotel is a member. There is a lot for them to learn. I had to give a mark of at least one, but in truth it is 0/5.

Room Tip: No such thing as a good room here.

Dear Guest

Thank you for sending in your comments. I am sorry that you were disappointed with your stay.
I would like to mention that best way to describe the way to find the hotel is to follow the brown Kassam Stadium signs which are all around the Ring Road. I would also like to apologise for the ironing board situation. The ironing boards are available from reception which is the brand standard.
Kind regards

stayed here with a few friends in April for my 30th. it was perfectly located, just a few minutes from town and right beside the stadium for the football games. check in was good, there were a few small problems like the names being wrong on the rooms but it was fixed really quickly and the staff were very nice. the rooms were very spacious and very comfortable, even having a choice of hard and soft pillows. the bar isn't very comfortable and is more of the restaurant, but that was okay as we didn't spend long in the hotel. all in all was a very enjoyable stay and all the staff we met were fantastic. i will be staying here again.

We stayed for four nights in this hotel. Clean and very helpfull staff. The hotel is out of town, but has an excellent 10 pound taxi service available to bring you to the city but also to pick you up in the city.
Hotel has own parking lot which is very convenient.
The breakfast was good and at no extra charge. There was good free WiFi service available for all the smarphones and tablets in our family.
Overall we can recommend this hotel for a city trip to Oxford!

Stay here every now and again. Hotel is usual HI Express standards - clean, hotel staff friendly and helpful. Food is not available in the hotel which is inconvenient and choice of places to eat on the local area is limited. Nothing to see in the vicinity but hotel has a preferential rate of £10 for a taxi ride into town, 6 miles apparently.

Dear Guest

Thank you for posting your comments. I am pleased to read that the staff were helpful & friendly.
I would just like to mention that there are three restaurants inside the cinema building, 4-5 minutes walk from the hotel. The restaurants are:
Aziz Indian, Frankie & Benny's, & Oxy Oriental. Also the Kings Arms pub on the Thames is a mile from the hotel

stayed here for 2 nights, its on out of town business park so you will need your own transport, the nearest restaurant is a good 15 minuets walk away, they won't let you take food to your room, but you can eat in the bar area which is ok,the staff are efficient but a bit standoffish( which you don't need after a long day). The room was very nice and clean and had a controllable radiator,(much better than useless air con.)The breakfast area is in a glass walled area which looks good but hopeless when busy(we stop at holiday inn in leith and there system is first class),good big car park, nice friendly cleaners.Park at park and ride and get bus into city, easy,All in all a ok place to stay, but a bit nondescript.

Room Tip: ask for a quiet corner room, they were very good about this,
