Stayed 2 nights for a conference. Excellent staff - helpful, friendly. Room very comfortable and well equipped. Only issue perhaps some noise from room above but perhaps just clumping guests. The food was excellent - breakfast a fresh cooked to order 'full English' and evening meals in the restaurant first rate modern European - even though they were cooking for 30 and gave a large choice. Handy for centre of Oxford. Quiet side street. I wasn't paying but prices seem appropriate for level of hotel and service.

We stayed only one night on our way through Oxford. The staff were exemplary in service and knowledge. The room was quite clean and large enough.

After looking at the reviews on Tripadvisor, we decided to look at this hotel, and was lucky to recieve a good deal on bed, breakfast and dinner for 3 nights. When we arrived a the hotel, we were given a free upgrade to a feature room (Trinity), and was extremely pleased with the room. It was very spacious, clean and all in all could not fault it.

The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. In the evening, we would get on a knock on the door and asked if we wanted our beds turned down. The restaurant staff could not do enough for you.

Dinner was either choices off a set menu or £22.50 from the al a carte menu. When the food came, we were surprised at how small the portions were, but after eating the food, we would have struggled to eat more. The food was very tasty, and hot. The drinks were expensive, but we asked for iced water, and this was sufficient. Breakfast was a full english (other choices were available) and a choice from the buffet. Again this was good.

The location of the hotel is excellent, only 10 minutes walk to the city centre. Good if like us, you have spent hours walking around the town!!

I would highly recommend this hotel to others, and would look for a deal if we were planning to visit Oxford again. I don't know if I would be happy paying the full price, but when we were looking for a hotel in Oxford, this was still cheaper than most.

We recently booked what we believed to be a reasonably priced standard double room for a one night stay at the Cotswold Lodge Hotel largely based on the feedback on Tripadvisor. However, the reviews actually give an overly generous description of what in our opinion is a very average, at best, hotel.

The room we stayed in was small and shabby with dated furniture, carpets which did not quite reach the wall and a very dimly lit bathroom. Moreover, despite being very cold outside and having turned the radiators off in the room, it remained unbearably stuffy which made for an uncomfortable night’s sleep. We have stayed in some remarkable hotel rooms all over the world but we have also stayed in far nicer Travelodge rooms compared to this.

Breakfast was not included in the price of the room which, to be completely honest, we were flabbergasted by when one considers the low quality of the room and the price we paid. Quite how the hotel can justify the cost of its rooms we do not know.

Prior to going for a meal in Oxford for the evening, we paid the hotel bar a visit for what transpired to be the most uncomfortable and quick drink of our lives; it lacked any type of atmosphere whatsoever. It needed some background music, even at a low volume, because due to the arrangement of the seats it meant all two or three individuals/couples in the bar were more or less facing each other and could hear every word the others were saying, even at a whisper. This is not the fault of the other guests (although we would have appreciated not being stared at quite so much) but rather something which the hotel should take responsibility for and change.

On a plus point, the hotel is conveniently located for a ten minute stroll into Oxford city centre. As a word of advice, it is slightly too far if you are wearing heels; we would advise getting a cab if you are going out for the evening. However, for a daytime sightseeing walk the location is fine.

Overall, and with regret, we are unable to recommend this hotel for anything other than its location. The price is far too high for what it offers, the room we stayed in was poor and our visit to the bar was a disaster. We have previously stayed at a fantastic hotel in nearby Woodstock and, if we were to return to Oxford, we would undoubtedly rather stay further out if it meant staying in a hotel of a better quality than this at a similar or better price.

best thing about this hotel is the location - walking distance from many lovely bars and shops and just a 10 min walk to the city centre. Bus stop in front of the hotel. Rooms are very small however very cozy. Breakfast is excellent.

We booked 2 rooms for a one night stay at their dinner, B&B rate which was a good price. Dinner was rather disappointing mainly due to the poor service in the restaurant. It took a long time to get our meals, there simply weren't enough staff in the restaurant. The food itself was ok. The rooms were nice and clean. Breakfast was ok but nothing special. The staff were very difficult to understand, they all had foreign accents.
