“Amazing staff!!!”
Reviewed 28 February 2010

This place was wonderful! For the modest price of a B&B, you get all the benefits of both a hotel and a guesthouse, within a short walking distance to the city centre. Delicious breakfast cooked to order, a well-stocked hotel bar that's conducive to enjoying conversations with your friends and family, and quiet and comfortable rooms. All this, plus some of the best service and staff I've experienced in all of the UK and Ireland. This is where I'll stay every time I go to Oxford!

I only stayed here for one night, however the overall experience was very positive.

My room wasn't decorated in the most contemporary way. Lots of flowery patterns, however the rooms were spacious, the bathrooms a decent size, the bed comfortable. So for a place to crash overnight it was ideal.

Unfortunately I arrived too late for dinner, however the staff on duty were extremely friendly and helpful and brought me a selection of crisps, snacks and cheese to keep me going. Breakfast the next morning was good. A good selection of fruits, pastries and cereals - in addition there was a good choice of hot food.

If you expect and want the features a modern hotel offers, then you wont find that here. And to be honest it doesn't try to be this type of hotel.

If I needed to stay in Oxford again, I'd have no issue staying here. It's clean, not too far from the centre, and allowed a good nights sleep.

The hotel was very clean and the staff very helpful.
The breakfast was very nice - selection of fresh fruit, toast, cooked breakfast, cerals etc.
It is located approximately 10-15 minutes walk from Oxford city centre.
My only complaint was the thin walls in between the bedrooms!

Our choice of hotel in Oxford was restricted to those available through the Tesco Deals scheme and I am so glad we found this one. Finding a hotel within walking distance of the town centre that offers ample free parking was brilliant. It is only a 10-15 min stroll to the heart of town past interesting buildings.

Our room was small but big enough and very comfortable. Our only complaint was that it was too hot overnight - the heat didn't seem to go off and we could turn the rad off either. But at least we were cosy.

Staff were friendly, breakfast was a good spread and freshly cooked to order, including delicious smoked haddock. We didn't eat a main meal, preferring to try the many restaurants in the town, but the menu looked OK and reasonable value. We did have a drink in the bar which was comfortable.

All in all a very good choice for a weekend break, highly recommended.

The thin walls make a full nights sleep is impossible, mainly from people walking up and down the corridor outside.
The location inconvenient.
The hotel prices extravagant especailly for 2 days breakfast for 2 £50! A meal I wouldnt have wasted my appetite on if the staff hadn't indicated that is was included with the room "please come down to breakfast served from 8 - 10"

Reception to hotel and staff were helpful and informative
Room was outstanding and well stocked with all amenites
However the single room booked for a relative was poor, split in the ceiling and paper peeling of wall, small and dark and only suitable for short term stay
Purpose of booking was to have a party but found the food was taking too long and cold when arrived undercooked and plates cold. Menu though provided was not true to form and several items of accessories such as cruet set and accompanying sauces/butters not brought to the table and clearly lack of coordination and organisation by the staff who were not working as a team
Restaurant pleasant but not large enough for the amount of people who were breakfasting there.
Most of the staff were European and their attitude lacking in personalty, possibly because of their origin/nationality although not unfriendlly were not communicative enough.
The first time this venue has been used but because of the above would not recommend to friends and colleagues as a first class service for holding and using for public or private functions

Title says it all! Have just returned from a two day break at this delightful hotel. Service was perfect, rooms warm, clean and bright with every amenity needed. Public rooms were bright and beautifully decorated. Breakfast was excellent - plenty of choice and faultless service. Though we didn't eat an evening meal, Sunday lunch was delicious and again excellent service in stylish surroundings.
Perfect location just 10-15 min walk to centre of Oxford with an abundance of attractions and eateries. And as parking is at a premium in Oxford being able to leave your car safely parked is a real bonus. For those less active a regular bus service runs just outside the hotel.
Look forward to satying here again.
