“Second division Premier Inn”
Reviewed 12 July 2014

Here's my review, based on our 9B criteria.

These comments apply to the Annexe where I stayed, which is the section that is not attached to the Beefeater restaurant.

* Bedroom – Good size, spotless, with tea & coffee. Decent size desk to work and large flatscreen TV is very welcome. However there is some noise: the main road can be heard even with the windows closed, the floors upstairs are creaky and other guests’ closing doors are disturbing.
* Bed – Comfy, with the usual choice of soft or firm pillows.
* Bathroom – Also very clean. Kind enough to supply liquid soap, but does not smell good – bring your own.
* Breakfast – good selection but cleanliness of cutlery and bowls left something to be desired, with encrusted sauce on one of the fork’s tines and dried cereal left on some bowls.
* Bar – in the adjacent Beefeater, with all the usual supplies.
* Bods – reception very helpful and friendly.
* Budget – fine
* Back (would we return?) – it is fine as somewhere to bed down, but I would probably look elsewhere next time.
* Beyond the hotel... the main road is nearby to take you to the delights of a large retail park and then the Oxfordshire countryside.

Typical Premier Inn accommodation situated in Cowley just on the outskirts of Oxford city. We chose this hotel mainly because it was not in the centre of Oxford, but was easily reachable by car, or by bus as we did from an adjacent bus stop. Our room (45) was situated on the first floor at the rear of the hotel overlooking a tennis court (not the hotels), and quite close to the busy A4142. However the rooms triple glazing blocked any noise from passing traffic. The room was clean and comfortable, but there was a problem with weak TV reception preventing some channels from loading. Premier Inns were once considered as budget hotels, but at £117 a night, room only, not any more. It might be worth looking at other options before opting for Premier Inn.

Stayed for the british Grand Prix weekend and I must say it was outstanding service. The room was cleaned daily and very clean, the fed was very comfortable. Having the beefeater next door was so handy.
The staff were very friendly
And professional. I have one complaint and that is the service of the bar staff who spent time talking to their mates and asked eventually if your ok or waiting. Bearing in mind you have been there 15 minutes you'd have thought they would have clicked. Overall though I would be more than happy to return.

Rooms can get hot but that is to be expected, staff seemed nice, the manager is excellent and took the time to look after guests and team :) it's a shame they don't see/reply to reviews...? Lovely hotel, spacious rooms, will come again, well done!

The room is fine with a comfortable bed though quite often the bedding can be itchy and certainly isn't soft which is a shame. Especially given I pay £100 a night and have been staying twice weekly for two months now. What's galling though is that only once out of all of those stays has the (brand new looking) air con unit actually worked... and even then there was no way on earth it was chucking out the 19C I wanted.

Staff are excellent and very helpful - Georghe, Emily and Sandra in particular - keep up the good work

Room Tip: Stay in the main building - rooms feel a bit less portakabin-esque
