My wife and I spent a couple of nights in the Oxford Prison hotel, on a short break to the city. Overall the experience was very good, the room was of a high standard, with a very comfortable bed and a well appointed bathroom. It was also very quiet despite being right at the front of the hotel near a main road.
There was however one point that stopped the hotel scoring a perfect 5. We parked outside the hotel when we arrived, but were not told that a parking fee of £28.50 per night was applicable. To the hotel's credit they did not charge for the first night as they had not told us of the situation, but it is surprising that the website does not inform prospective clients of the shortage of parking, and the fact that they levy a substantial charge. It would be more professional to provide the information at the time of booking, and to suggest alternatives nearby.More
