Only came in for lunch prior to cricket at Blenheim Palace, but the food and drink are a defo highlight. Sat in the sunny courtyard garden ( with a burger bar available ) and ordered up the bacon based scotch eggs and sweep potato fries. What a delight accompanied by a chilled glass of pear cider. The English Tapas format really works well at the Star. When one of my companions ordered the same dish, I noticed he got a small dish of ( very hot ) accompanying chilli sauce...where was mine eh ?

Came to this pub after eating elsewhere and rather wished we hadn't!
Great friendly staff, quick service, fab atmosphere, plenty of seating and a mix of ages and people.
The tapas board is outstanding, we just had to try the scotch egg and honey sausages, absolutely amazing, so wish we had eaten here.
Can't comment on the rooms as didn't stay but if the food is anything to go by you'll be in for a treat

We stayed in the King Room overlooking the square. It was very large and very well furnished, with a very comfortable bed. The ensuite was huge, well-appointed and clean, with a large roll-top bath. Unfortunately the shower would sometimes suddenly run cold. Despite being on the front of the building the room was quiet as there was no through traffic and the double glazing was excellent. Parking is very difficult, but try the lane down the side. Breakfasts were great - well cooked and very generous. Contrary to some previous comments you could have extra tea if you wanted. The staff were all very helpful and friendly. We ate in the bar 3 nights in a row and all meals were of a very high quality. The lamb hot pot special was amazing! Overall it was not like staying in a pub, but rather an informal but comfortable small hotel.

Room Tip: The King Room is very comfortable, and is quiet despite overlooking the street.

Comfortable room, although the bed was only a 4ft 6 and only 1 of our 4 pillows had a protector on it. Nice bathroom and good shower. Friendly staff. Very good cooked breakfast but none of the usual buffet items like fruits or yoghurt. We also ate lunch here, which was good - had the calamari caeser salad and the burger with sweet potato fries. 5 minute walk to Blenheim Palace.

Lovely hotel! The rooms were of a very high standard with very comfortable beds including nice soft pillows. The staff couldn't have done enough for us. Location was excellent for Blenheim Palace!! With regards to the food, there was good choice on the menu with a great choice of drinks to suit everyone. Would definately come here again!!

Excellent base for a visit to Blenheim Palace, Oxford and Cotswolds. Excellent accomodation, Well furnished spotless clean rooms with all amenities and friendly and efficient staff in this lovely pub in the centre of Woodstock Log fires and comfortable seating and very much a local. Breakfast was plentiful, freshly cooked with varied choice to suit all. Stairs to rooms could be a little tricky for older people but help was offered.

Able to park the car and walk to Blenheim, or catch the bus into Oxford.

Would like more choice to eat in and prices a lot higher than would like to pay but so was the price in most of the establishments locally.

Would definitely stay again, as we had excellent deal.

During our stay local parking restrictions had been suspended, but if this is lifted then parking could be a problem.
