This hotel is an embarrassment to its sister hotel Lords of the Manor!! Front of house badly needs sorting out place was chaos.We went on Valentines evening to be told by member of staff that she already had done a 12hr shift and was burnt out because of night before, not what you want to hear when i ended with bill for £180 before i asked service to be taken off.One lady customer had to ask 3 times for a glass of wine and had to delay meal till wine arrived.They run out of scallops and wood pigeon by 8pm both on tasting menu.Mens were out of use had to use one of hotel bedrooms which also looked very tired like rest of place.Woodstock is charming place Feathers lets it down!!Stay and eat at The Bear

The food at the Feathers Hotel in beautiful historic Woodstock is utterly delicious thanks to chef Mark and with impeccable, attentive but discreet service - it really is a special place to go. The panelled dining room is stunning and so inviting especially on a cold January night. I enjoyed a special last-minute birthday dinner there in their private dining room 2 weeks ago and it was sensational! A wide range of delicious wines. The bedrooms are quintessentially 'English'country too. If you want something more relaxed you can eat in the bistro for less but still excellent quality.

We visited The Feathers Hotel this month, principally to eat in the restaurant. What a delight.
Having scoured Oxfordshire for decent places to eat for the best part of seven years, and invariably being left under-whelmed, both myself and my two co-diners were impressed with the whole experience.
The service was superb - the staff were attentive to detail and this was complimented by the quality of both the choice available on the menu and the food itself.
The restaurant provides a wonderful milieu so often overlooked, and is very "Woodstock" in a quaint, positive way.
For a special evening out, in beautiful surroundings, with top-class service and fantastic food, I would highly recommend the Feathers.

Eager anticipation of good food on my sister's 50th birthday slowly gave way to incredulity. The food was truly dire. No fresh ingredients ..the vegetables came as a sort of slop, either bright green or bright orange. My fish was old and tired. Pasta was cold. Chocolate "Mousse" which should be light and fluffy was a solid icy lump.
And on top of it all, the service was painfully slow, despite a half empty restaurant (a big party had failed to turn up)- and amazingly rude. We would politely request something to be met with a grunt.
We were completely taken aback, after such a reputation, to have an experience like this - and so disappointed. At least it was so bad we had to laugh. But sadly the Feathers is now permanently off our list of local treasures.

I was tremendously impressed with the service and the food at this hotel. You really must eat in the restaurant.
