I marked this down slightly as the single room was in the 'not enough to swing a dead cat' variety, but everything else about it was fine. I stayed for two nights, but I think I would have been uncomfortable any longer (no chair, had to sit on bed). Location great, staff friendly, baguettes great!

This is a B&B not a hotel and as such one is at the whims of the owner rather than having the security of a brand to rely on. The key was not in the box as the booking suggested, however the owner took my call quickly and appeard with the key in a few minutes.

The accomodation is poor. Small room, old beds (but the linen was clean and freshly laundered), towels thin but clean. The en-suite comprised a shower cubicle, loo and sink; all very clean BUT, the loo seat was not secured to the bowl, the shower head desperately needs replacement (limescaled up) and the hot water system needs an over-haul. The hot water supply to the sink and shower was either non-existent or very poor, switching between the two. It was impossible to shower due to the lack of pressure. I left unshowered preferring to take my chances at the office! I made my representations to the ladies downstairs; they seemed to suggest at first that having cold water was sufficientand, eventually they only apologised for the lack of hot water. I was expecting a small refund at least.

It is located in Reading town center, near rail station and all major shopping centers, the Oracle, is just a few minutes walk away, ample restaurants and High street shops are very close by. The owner of the B & B stays on premises. Breakfast is provided in the shop downstairs, and cooked, as well as continental breakfast is available. The saying goes: "you get what you pay for", on this occasion, I got less. Would I stay again? Only if the shower/hot water is sorted - over to the owner to reply.

Room Tip: Service would have been good had they offered a refund. Room 19 overlooks the HIgh street - could...

This is an average hotel, clean and ok for short stay. It is located in Reading town center, near rail station and all major shopping centers, the Oracle, being just a few minutes walk away, ample restaurants and High street shops are very close by. The room was fairly small but adequate, the bathroom had shower cubicle and was well appointed with complimentary toiletries. The owner of hotel [B & B] stays on premises. Breakfast is provided in the shop downstairs, and cooked, as well as continental breakfast is available. All in all a good place to stay for short period.

Room Tip: Try to get room facing rear of streets, as can get noisy.

THE GOOD: Location, if you need a train or the bus to Heathrow; also, the gal who tends the cafe downstairs and who distributes B&B keys was very sweet.
THE BAD: Where do I start? The driving disco beat, from just downstairs, starts about 11, just when you are trying to fall asleep. Previous to that, most of the sounds came from the dumpsters just below the windows as the kitchen help was discarding trash. Finally, I closed the windows, deciding that sweltering (no a/c or fan) was preferable to no sleep. I awoke every hour, fearing I would miss my bus. There is no alarm in the room and no phone, so no way to get a wake up call. The cafe downstairs closes at 3pm, and after that you are on your own. The floors in the bathroom are spongy underfoot, they feel like the vinyl flooring might give way. A night to remember!

Be aware that the La Baguette is only staffed by the cafe, which closes after lunch. I arrived in the evening and so had to pick up the key from a safe box, and there wasn't anyone to get the wireless code from. Apart from that it was fine. Excellent location for the station.

The room is basic but for the price what do you expect. It was clean and quite spacious. Breakfast was fantastic. The only minor problem was the noise from the pub next door. The sound of the music was dull but noticable. Went quite around midnight.
