This is a lovely hotel and the staff are mostly excellent. We stayed 2 nights and on the second night were unfortunately located just above the courtyard where a wedding on until 1am. We complained and although could not be moved the situation was resolved amiably afterwards thanks to the very professional team of staff. We loved the spa facilities, they are clearly newly refurbished and well looked after. The room was spacious and comfortable.

I would recommend that unless you are with the wedding party/ party ask to be located away from the courtyard if such an event is on. Otherwise enjoy your stay!

We stayed here during our daughters crew race at Henley -on-Thames.

The front desk had NO idea about how to get there (15 miles away). They had no knowledge about bus or train schedules and did not bother to find out anything for us.

They had no knowledge or information about sightseeing in London and made no effort to get us any.

The " family suite" was a phone booth. A queen bed & tiny pullout couch. My 14 yr old slept on the floor, my 18 yr old daughter slept on the lumpy uncomfortable pullout.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review following your recent visit to the hotel.

I am disapointed to read that you did not experience the levels of serivce that we aim to provide here which have been addresed with the Front Desk Manager, to ensure the team have local knowledge and are able to look up informaiton where they may not have the answer.

I also note your comments regarding our family rooms as an alternative we do have inter-connecting rooms which would consist of two rooms, one double and one twin bedded room.

Thank you once again for your feedback.

This hotel has a massive outdoor courtyard at the back, overlooking the river, and a bright and sunlight dining area just inside. Its clear that it is used often to house wedding guests and to hold the drinks reception and perhaps dinner. The rooms themselves are very comfortable, some of the best pillows and best supported beds I have slept in for a while. A bonus is also that the air conditioning works really well, and even though our room faced a main road, the windows were sufficiently thick to block out the noise.

The rooms would be 5 stars from me if there was free wireless and a better TV, which was one of those ancient square 21" models I think.

We used the spa and health facilities attached as well, and they are really good, with a 25m swimming pool (only 1.2m deep), jacuzzi, steam room, sauna, and a well equipped gym. They also provide spa treatments, such as massages and facials, which were very professional and not too expensive either. Use of the health facilities is free as a hotel guest.

We didn't have food, but we did look at the menu, and its reasonably priced for a hotel, although not a very inspiring menu. Nearby in Caversham there are a couple of interesting thai and pub places, but nothing grand. Reading town centre (and the Oracle) is a good 20-30 minutes walk down some empty sidewalks, but we didn't feel unsafe at anytime. There's a bus going to the train station that stops just across the roundabout from the hotel, one-way fare £1.70.

I stay at the Crowne Plaza several times a year and have always found it comfortable, safe and clean. The staff all seem very well trained and the rooms have all the facilities I require, including a safety chain and peephole on the door and an iron and ironing board. The food in the restaurant is excellent, although fairly expensive. As a woman often travelling on my own I particularly like this hotel because it feels so secure.

This is my favorite when I have one of my regular stays in for Business in Reading. Although hotels of this categorie are somewhat old fashioned (lets call it british traditionell) it has all you need for a short 1-3 night stay.

Rooms are right sized and clean. They have a nice Flat TV set with international SAT TV for a small extra fee.

Breakfast is mixed english and continental ok but not great. Service is at breakfast is slow. Plan extra time.

Check in and out takes time as well.
Over all, the best value I can get in this area

Our first visit to this hotel, having usually stayed at their sister hotel in Marlow, We were not disappointed,a lovely clean hotel and what looked like a recently refurbished room.
Staff were pleasant and HAPPY in their roles.

We enjoyed the location of the hotel right on the river and with easy acess to caversham restaurants.

Breakfast was a well-organized and delightful affair, we look forward to visting again very soon.
