Very warm and friendly staff welcomed us at reception, room was very clean and the bed comfortable loved the new shower instead of the over bath showers altogether a very pleasant experience The pub next door provided a very good menu with no pre booking required.

Room Tip: 1/2 hour free wifi could be better if wifi was free for longer,

Good all round stay, clean rooms, professional staff who were very helpful even made me think that they actually might care about the service they gave and also the quality of my stay. Hotel is central to Reading - within walking distance. Breakfast good and of high quality, lots of choice.

Parking available with cameras which gave me some confidence when leaving my car although the car park can get busy at night due to a restaurant next to the hotel which is part of the chain. This became problematic when I needed to park one night and found it very difficult - this was the only let down and not sure that it affected me too much although I did get rather wet.

The rooms seem to have been designed in typical Holiday Inn Express style. However, unlike HIE rooms, I was disappointed that there is no shaver point in the bathroom and no telephone in the room so that you have to go all the way back down to reception if there is any problem or query. Also, many HIE's now offer free wifi, and flat screen TVs that you can move around rather than fixed to the wall so you can only easily watch it from the rather uncomfortable sofa bed. The breakfast selection at Premier Inn is of course better, but then you do have to pay an extra £8.25 for it - it's included at HIE. Unfortunately there isn't an HIE in Reading otherwise I would definitely prefer to stay there. It's worth checking the prices of Novotel and Ibis as they are in much more convenient locations for the town centre and station. This one is quite a walk from the Oracle. But as I got the room for £19 a night I can't really complain.

Room Tip: There isn't any room service or pool!

Having stayed here earlier in the year we had the chance to spend Christmas here at a bargain rate.
Can only say how perfect it was From arrival on 23rd to departure on the 28th the staff where helpfull friendly and always smiling and happy. The people on reception and those that did room service cannot be faulted..As for the chef on Breakfast duty ..they cook the perfect Poached eggs going, as well as every thing else and all for £19 a night plus breakfasts..

Room Tip: Rear 2nd/3rd floor gives river views.

Exactly what you expect from the chain: good clean, simple rooms (very spacious). Walking distance from the town and easy to reach (and park) by car (we used it as our base for 4 days in Henley). Breakfast was extensive and good. The one major flaw is the restaurant next door which is part of the chain. Due to our late arrival we had dinner there. The staff was very disinterested, not very helpful. The quality of the food was also very bad (rich with fat). It seemed a popular place for sunday lunch or a roast dinner for locals but I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.
Good place for an overnight stay though!

I stayed on the 13th of December 2012, I was expecting a travelled style budget hotel. But was pleasantly surprised. The room I stayed in was 314, it was lovely and clean, and had a fantastic view of nearby fields. The staff were extremely helpful, even allowing me to leave my luggage in the hotel back room, till I returned from an interview nearby. I would definitely recommended this if your looking for a clean, and relaxing place to stay. The only negative was I felt the continental breakfast was a little pricey for £5.25, considering I only had two pieces of toast and cup of tea.

Stayed here for two nights to do Xmas shopping and meeting children at London Heathrow. Had a room on first floor at back overlooking the river number 236.
Room was comfortable and clean with double bed and bathroom with good shower no bath, the hotel was fairly new and had a Toby Carvery next door for an evening meal and breakfast if required. The hotel did have its own restaurant which served meals and breakfast but we did not use this facility. Wi fi was available at a charge 30 mins were free though. Staff on front desk were very friendly and we had a smooth check in and check out. Overall hotel was handy for Reading Town, good price, we would return again very comfortable room albeit basic but good value for money.

Room Tip: Rooms at front overlooking car park may be noisy as Toby carvery right next door and lorry deliverie...
