Given the very cheap price and so-so reviews, i wasn't expecting much of this B&B. But it was just a base, given that a very late night was on the cards, so we figured it was worth chancing.
As it turned out, it was a very pleasant, homely little B&B. OK the furnishings were not as pristine as one might get in a Travel Inn or similar but in my opinion, far more cosy and characterful. The room was bigger than we were expecting, with a large bathroom (including a bath, rather than just a shower cubicle).
The bed was fantastically comfy. As someone who can rarely get a good night's sleep away from home, i was very impressed with the beds here and was able to sleep for once!!
Breakfast the next morning was lovely and we got a generous plateful for the price.
Great to have a B&B so close to the town centre with free parking but only 10 spaces, so I guess we were lucky there.

Other than the limited parking the only slight niggle was that the room was rather cold and there didn't seem to be away to adjust this in our room (not sure where the advertised air-con system was!). However given the sudden cold snap this weekend, I assume the owners were unprepared for the change in temperature and had turned the heating off!! For me, this is still better than too hot, as many hotels tend to be.

Overall, I'd recommend this for a convenient stop-over.

I stayed for a week at this hotel. I stayed in a "deluxe" room. The room was separated from the rest of the hotel and had its own door straight in from the road.

The bed was reasonably comfortable and the room was warm enough. The bathroom was only adequate. One morning there was no hot water as the circuit breaker to the boiler had tripped.

The Wi-fi connection worked just fine, but the digital television box kept switching itself off and restarting on a different channel every few minutes.

I had one meal in the restaurant attached to the hotel. The food was fine, and the service friendly and efficient.

The main advantage of the hotel is that it is close to the city centre shopping areas and public transport. The main drawback is that the hotel car park is very, very small (only room for about 10 cars) and there is no parking on the local streets without a resident parking permit.

All in all a reasonably priced hotel in a convenient location.

Stayed for 2 nights for business/shopping. Basic hotel, clean, handy for city centre. Would have no problem staying there again. Only problem is limited parking at the back of the hotel, very tight spaces and you can get blocked in. In saying that reception were quick to ask guests to move their cars if need be.

The hotel has a great location near to both railway station and Oracle centre. Rooms were far too hot and the advertised air conditioning was not present. Wifi did work but signal was not very strong. We rang the Hotel and got a great price (cheaper than all web sites)

Average B&B, rooms are clean but unmodernised.. staff are so-so.

Some of the radiators and lights didn't work, which meant the room was cold and dark... Oh, and there is variable hot water, which is not ideal first thing in the shower in the morning on a cold winters day!

The hotel was very clean, nice friendly staff. Ideal for the Reading festival as it is only ten minutes from the entrance and also it is only ten minutes away from the town centre (both walking). The hotel is secure with key card entrance and on the room so you can come and go as you please.

I would stay here again, however on my next visit I would request a room to the rear as the road in front of the hotel can be busy at times. This may have been due to the festival traffic.

They provide a good full english breakfast in the morning, but if you are a veggie they will cater for you, but no soya products, just an english breakfast with out the meat or beans on toast.

If you are going for the festival or wish your teens to stay in a safe hotel rather then camping then this is the place to book. but book earliy it can get full very quickly.

out of ten i would rate this 7/10
