The breakfast by Nick is quite a national monument. Perfect to start a nice day!
The garden is marvellous even in October. You will find there a strategic place to visit London, Reading or Oxford. If you are lucky you could see a muntjac!

Setters Barn is a fab B&B very close to Reading but hidden in the deep Oxfordshire countryside. Has to be one of the nicest places to stay in the area and certainly outdoes the alternative options in Pangbourne, Stoke Row and Goring. As others have commented, the rooms are delightful - arranged on opposite sides of a U-shaped barn that overlooks a superb garden with an stunning view over the valley beyond. My room was warm, welcoming and well equipped. I particularly like the shortbread biscuits. Breakfast was brilliant - freshly prepared scrambled eggs on toasted home-made bread, freshly squeezed orange juice, fresh blueberries and figs with yoghurt. All washed down with great coffee. What more do you need?? It certainly was a pleasurable relief staying at Setters while the building work at my home had reached the point where I couldn't stand the dust and cold water any more.

Room Tip: My room at the far end on the right hand side (as you face the valley) was the smaller of the two av...

Setters Barn is a delightful B&B in the countryside outside Reading. Louise and Nick were extremely welcoming and went out of their way to make my stay as comfortable as possible. The house is gorgeous. The 2 B&B rooms are on opposite sides of the converted U shaped barn overlooking their fabulous garden. My room was modern and stylish with an exquisitely comfortable bed and bedding to die for....The bathroom was also modern-powerful shower and nice toiletries. Faultless.....as was my breakfast. Cooked to order by the very capable Nick. Fresh juice and fruit & cereal to start.....Marvellous with a capital M.....

The barn was lovely to relax and get away from the hectic life, handy for walking along the Thames, handy for meeting our daughter from Heathrow, and handy for The Highwayman. Doing all of these was helped by excellent local advice and directions from the hosts, recommendations of places they obviously liked. We did like the red kite overhead, too. Very sympathetic barn extension and peaceful atmosphere. Very good breakfast - cooked while we watched

Thank you very much

Looking for a b&b in the neighbourhood of Dorchester we found this super accomodation.
Very nice and clean room, super beds, quiet location and last but not least a delicious breakfast.
We enjoyed our stay and when we can we come again.
Thanks for everything.

What more can we say other than what others have said? Everything is true that has been written - Rooms lovely, bed very comfortable - quiet peaceful surroundings - lovely breakfast - lovely hosts! We thoroughly recommend this B&B and hope to stay there again in the future. We found it the perfect place to have a short break whilst visiting family and friends.

It's hard to believe any person having to do business in Reading wouldn't first try and stay at Setters Barn, in Goring Heath, just moments from Reading and only about a 45 minute drive from Heathrow. I stayed there because I wanted to see one more beautiful place before having to return home to New York city, and I needed to be conveniently located to facilitate a quick drive to Heathrow the next morning. Setters Barn fit that bill. It is beautifully situated in the country, in Goring Heath, offering privacy, quiet, comfort and exquisite hospitality. It is also very reasonably priced. Nick and Louise, the proprietors, are a terrific couple, offering to accomodate in any way they can. They have 2 very tastefully decorated rooms, so can accomodate up to 4 people. The rooms have private entrances, located in separate areas just outside of their main house. I stayed in The Barn, which was very comfortable, clean and neat as a pin, with the most comfortable bed in which I slept in my 16 days elsewhere in England and the best shower. They were nice enough to make a dinner reservaton for me at a wonderful restaurant, The Greyhound, that was close by. And breakfast the next morning was a real treat. Nick makes the most wonderful bread, Louise, the most wonderful granola and marmalade. And the rest is made to order: yogurt, eggs, bacon, sausages, fresh fruit, juice, coffee, tea. I was only sorry that I couldn't stay longer, to take advantage of what the area had to offer and the continued hospitality of Setters Barn. A return trip should be in order.
