We arrived on the night of 'the Great October Storm' but felt warm and cosy in our extremely comfortable room. Despite no power the next morning our hosts managed to cook a delicious breakfast.
This accommodation really deserves it's 5 stars. It's clean and very tastefully furnished. The bed was one of the most comfortable I've slept on and the ensuite shower room is modern with a great shower.
It's very quiet and peaceful and a good base for exploring the countryside and local towns.
Thanks to Nick and Louise for making us feel so welcome.

The breakfast by Nick is quite a national monument. Perfect to start a nice day!
The garden is marvellous even in October. You will find there a strategic place to visit London, Reading or Oxford. If you are lucky you could see a muntjac!

Setters Barn is a fab B&B very close to Reading but hidden in the deep Oxfordshire countryside. Has to be one of the nicest places to stay in the area and certainly outdoes the alternative options in Pangbourne, Stoke Row and Goring. As others have commented, the rooms are delightful - arranged on opposite sides of a U-shaped barn that overlooks a superb garden with an stunning view over the valley beyond. My room was warm, welcoming and well equipped. I particularly like the shortbread biscuits. Breakfast was brilliant - freshly prepared scrambled eggs on toasted home-made bread, freshly squeezed orange juice, fresh blueberries and figs with yoghurt. All washed down with great coffee. What more do you need?? It certainly was a pleasurable relief staying at Setters while the building work at my home had reached the point where I couldn't stand the dust and cold water any more.

Room Tip: My room at the far end on the right hand side (as you face the valley) was the smaller of the two av...

Setters Barn is a delightful B&B in the countryside outside Reading. Louise and Nick were extremely welcoming and went out of their way to make my stay as comfortable as possible. The house is gorgeous. The 2 B&B rooms are on opposite sides of the converted U shaped barn overlooking their fabulous garden. My room was modern and stylish with an exquisitely comfortable bed and bedding to die for....The bathroom was also modern-powerful shower and nice toiletries. Faultless.....as was my breakfast. Cooked to order by the very capable Nick. Fresh juice and fruit & cereal to start.....Marvellous with a capital M.....

The barn was lovely to relax and get away from the hectic life, handy for walking along the Thames, handy for meeting our daughter from Heathrow, and handy for The Highwayman. Doing all of these was helped by excellent local advice and directions from the hosts, recommendations of places they obviously liked. We did like the red kite overhead, too. Very sympathetic barn extension and peaceful atmosphere. Very good breakfast - cooked while we watched

Thank you very much

We thoroughly recommend this B&B and hope to stay there again in the future. We found it the perfect place to have a short break whilst visiting family and friends.
