To be honest I have stayed at this hotel on probably 3 occasions it is worth a try when all other hotels are full or vastly overpriced as Reading is prone to be! Everytime the building work has progressed from my previous visit. Noticeably the cleanliness has improved and also the breakfast has come on leaps and bounds.I did have one instance where a memer of staff (possibly management) tried to gain more for the room than I had been quoted.Even so the hotel is ok, cant imagine Americans liking it too much tho! As I titled "Cheapish and cheerfullish" !

This place was okay but was definitely not 4* (which is what it was quoted as being when I booked it) and was not worth the money I paid either. More of a 3*. Breakfast was good but that was about the only plus side.

On arrival, we stood at reception for about 15 minutes before someone came along to help us check in. We then saw that there had been someone else behind reception the whole time but that he had chosen to ignore us. The staff could not really speak English and were rude, they seemed to not really care.

The room was far from spotless and there was a big mark on one of the walls.

I would recommend staying away from this hotel, I'm sure there are far better in Reading.

First off, on the website listings we looked at for this hotel, it seemed to have many ameneties, but when we got there, they were still building it. We were directed to our room, using the stairs, as the lift wasn't finished yet. In the room, builders were in the courtyard outside our window, which echoed and building works were going on. The window sill was so dirty I had to clean it myself. We asked for a fan, as it was muggy, but they don't supply them, there were no extra pillows or blankets provided, and I had to ask for extra pillows. We also asked about the builders and when in the morning they would start, and the staff were very indifferent and told us in the morning sometime. When asked about the pay per view movies, we were told they wasn't done yet. There was also suppose to be safe depost box in all rooms, I assume this wasn't done yet, as there was none in ours. I wanted a bath, but the plug worked on a lever and the lever wasn't installed in the bathtub yet, only a hole was where it should have been. The duvet cover was stained with some brown substances, and there was a handfull of hair stuck in the wall light by the bed, they hair wasn't ours. The breakfast was greasy and not wonderful. When asking about things the front end staff barely spoke English. We did complain but they didn't care. The whole experience was a farce and we were planning on staying for 5 nights, in the end we only last 2 nights and went somewhere else. I've stayed in nicer and cleaner hostels than this hotel.

We just returned from a visit to the UK where we stayed at the Park International for 5 nights. The room was clean, comfortable, but smaller in reference to American Hotels. The Hotel was not quite finished. The lift was not in and the leisure room was not finished. They did not say they would be. It was quiet and peaceful during our stay. For a couple of American's, the English breakfast is something that can be skipped, they did have juice and cereal available. The staff was accomadating and addressed our needs. The location was a little too far away from the train station to walk, but cabs were available. When completed it should be a good place to stay.
