Friends, my partner and I stayed for 2 nights in June. On arrival, the hotel staff told us we had booked for 3 nights when we had only booked for 2 and eventually conceded that we would only be staying for 2 nights and therefore would only pay for 2 nights.
Our room was large and clean but stank of cigarettes. The windows didn't close properly so the room wasn't overly secure. Our friends were initially given the keys to a filthy room that hadn't been cleaned and were immediately moved.
At about 8pm we wandered down to the bar to get a drink whilst waiting for more friends to arrive and were told no restaurant or bar service that night. The following night, a nice guy called Malcolm opened the bar up especially for us but otherwise it remained closed all weekend!
Breakfast was ok - a full english and not the contintental advertised and not served too early.
Overall, not a great hotel but ok for £55 a night per room and close to the town centre (£5 in a cab). You could do a lot worse but you could also do better!
