I absolutely love this place! Well reading a little bit less... it's not a very charming city!

But this hotel is exceptional! By the situation in Reading, the staff(the lady at the breakfast was very professional, a big smile, and most important does a great coffee!)

The food is of a very high standard too. I ate few times during my stay here, Never been disappointed. The portions are good but most important the food is very tasty.
The barmen are all very good too. A nice selection of cocktails to propose to you with fair prices.

I already booked again not for Reading but just for the hotel for my wife and myself and have a soapy romantic weekend in this hotel.

Cant wait!

We stayed here for one night as we were in the area and decided to treat ourselves to a fancy hotel, and it was everything we hoped for.

The staff were helpful and charming and the hotel itself combined the modern boutique feel with the period features of the building perfectly. Our room was luxurious, comfortable and quiet, providing a great relaxing sanctuary. It was also stocked with a Nespresso coffee machine, Molton Brown toiletries, and had an amazing Bang & Olfson TV / sound system, all of which we took full advantage of. We also enjoyed a couple of tasty cocktails in the bar.

Located right opposite a pretty park and less than a 5 min walk from the centre of town, The Forbury is the perfect choice for those looking for something a bit special at a very reasonable price. Highly recommended!

Would really recommend - absolutely delicious cakes and such fresh sandwiches and scones. Really worth a visit if you are in Reading. Hotel very impressive - would like to stay on another occasion. Will certainly book for afternoon tea on my next visit.

From the moment we stepped into the hotel the reception was incredibly helpful, valet parking helped with our luggage, check in swift and prepared for us. The suite room we had was tastefully decorated and very comfortable with a shower that if had been possible we would have stolen to bring home as the best both my husband and I had ever had. It was a struggle getting him out of it on our first morning there. The restaurant had an ample menu list and the food was delicious again very courteous staff for both evening meal and breakfast
Will definitely return if ever in Reading again

Room Tip: The suites are definitely worth the additional spend

We have just returned from one night at the Forbury hotel whilst attending Henley Regatta. From the moment we arrived early morning when we had our car parked and luggage carried in we experienced the helpful professional service,
The hotel is in a great central location and is beautifully decorated and maintained with a stunning chandelier and numerous other exquisite style touches. It feels luxurious and welcoming. Our bedroom was equally well designed with an extremely comfortable bed and a luxury bathroom with large bath and separate large powerful shower and Molton Brown products. The only downside was the lack of air conditioning as it was a very warm night and with the window open it was rather noisy.
The cocktail bar was pleasant in the evening and breakfast in the morning was first class with lovely fresh orange juice, fresh pastries and fruit and yoghurt. Our cooked breakfasts arrived promptly and the service was great. The late weekend breakfast hours were also much appreciated.
My only disappointment was the fact that we actually had very little time in the hotel to enjoy its facilities as we were out for the majority of the day but I guess it will just mean that a return visit is necessary!

Been all over, good places, the Forbury is absolute class, relaxed atmos, and great place to spend time with the wife...if you want more activity then Reading town is 50 yards to your left, it serves a good selection of premium drink & food ...and service is spot on up and down the scale, but best of all...that little sparkle of service that you expect from a 5 star hotel...it has it.
Take the time in the morning to walk round the gardens opposite, you will learn a lot about a town you thought you knew.

Room Tip: Get the best room you can afford, p.s be sober before attempting to work out how to use the Bang &am...

To be fair, I have only stayed at a couple of hotels in Reading but this is definately the best. Stayed for a surprise birthday and got a Junior Suite.
Now, you know when you go to hotels and think 'This is nice' and then find little bits and pieces to get picky over, (sadly), well don't bother with this place as you won't find any.
It is five star luxury at (reasonable) four star rates, Probably because it is so far out of central London but if it was inside then you could add another £200 to each room.
The room was superbly appointed, large, comfortable, with silver wear and not plastic, and a Bang Olufsen TV/CD/Stereo etc. We even had personally signed Michael Winner books as bedtime reading. The bathroom was so large and excellently decorated that my wife decided that they would need a court order to get her out!!!
Tried the bar with extensive cocktail menu, and all was good in the world.
We had the room service breakfast, which you choose the night before, leaving the card in the corridor.. However, after the previous line regarding the cocktails, we had room service deliverying several dozen items, all of which were very tasty indeed (at no extra cost).
If this place had a pool I would move in.
Parking was valet and very well priced.
I had an issue with the car as all the doors decided to lock and not open for anyone as we were leaving. This cleared up late so I put it down to the car not wanting to leave either.
Overall I have been spoiled and cannot possibly stay anywhere else in Reading again.

Room Tip: It doesn't really matter, but if you can then spend a little extra and get a suite.
