My husband and i have lived in Reading for a long time and neither of us realised there was such a lovely hotel with the best service we have had the pleasure to experience in a long time, and right on our doorstep!
We had a really nice stay in the Thameside and both felt it was well worth every penny.
The staff are lovely and we even had our bag taken to our room for us! Something even the Hilton has neglected to do!
We decided to go out for dinner and when we returned late the staff and night porter were extremely helpful in providing drinks from the bar even though it had closed.
Breakfast was lovely, a simple menu served up promptly, hot and tasty!
The room whilst not huge was beautifully decorated (as was the whole hotel) spotless and the bed was very comfortable. The room was nice and quiet too! To be honest we have not one bad word to say and will be visiting again on our next little break from being new parents!

I booked the Thameside because it was the only hotel I could find in the area that had a car park. Unable to find the entrance to the car park, I rang the hotel and was informed that the narrow alley way between two houses in an adjacent side street led to the hotel. Large vehicles would probably not be able to access the car park.

The entrance from the car park through the back of the hotel looks a bit scruffy, but the reception area is very smart. Check-in was fast and friendly. My room was spacious, clean and nicely decorated. The bathroom was slightly dated, but also very clean. Although the room was at the front of the hotel facing a main road, double glazing and blinds kept the noise to a minimum and I enjoyed a good night's sleep. Free WiFi is another benefit you won't enjoy at larger chain hotels in Reading.

Great boutique style hotel in Caversham, Reading near the river. Owners have developed the hotel significantly and added a Deli style cafe including covered pavement area. High standard of service thoughout. I suspect this hotel is a well kept secret.

Room Tip: All rooms are non smoking, with aircon and amenities, great wifi access in the hotel. Good quality m...

When I arrived to check in there must of been around 150 people in the foyer and cafe. We were here for Reading Festival. Straight away we were identifed and made to feel welcome Check in was smooth even due to the high volume of people and the chap on the desk was extremely helpful even giving us tips on how to get to the festival site to avoid the crowds.

We were given enough wifi for our iphones and laptops .. even arriving back late we were able to get a coffee and snacks to our room. At no point did we feel we were just another guest.

Breakfast was great and we had a great stay returning next year and already booked!. Thanks Thameside for a great stay..

Room Tip: rooms on the ground floor are great if you are a regular smoker for quick access to the seating area...

The Thameside hotel is a nice and clean hotel, with a very friendly staff. On a perfect location in Reading, about 10 minutes walk from the railway station. It takes 30 minutes to get at Paddington station in Londen.

I have been communting to Reading on a weekly basis from Scotland for the last 6 years. Over this time I have probably stayed in all the hotels in the area, the Thameside is by far the best; the decor, service, quality of food is exceptional value. Julie and Brian are very warm and welcoming without being intrusive, I can't recommend this hotel highly enough. Thank you for looking after me for the last 5 years
