Description: Located right opposite the Broad Street Mall in Reading's city centre, ASK Italian offers affordable Italian cuisine in smart, modern surroundings. Well known throughout the UK for their contemporary style and excellent value Italian food, ASK Italian restaurants are a popular dining destination, particularly amongst the after work crowd. The menu is wide and varied, offering mouth watering dishes such as cod and pancetta fishcakes served with a lemon and parsley dip or beef meatballs in a spicy sauce served on top of rigatoni pasta. Desserts shouldn't be missed either with tiramisu and lemon tart on offer. ASK Italian in Reading is a favourite for Italian food and it's easy to see why.

It's ok for a light lunch on a Saturday afternoon between shopping but nothing special.

The lay out is odd, the food is salty and the menu isn't that interesting.

Like I said, someone to go for a break.

Thank Mad J

The first tiem I had eaten at the Reading branch and have to say it was a good experience. Staff were very friendly & patient as one of our guests was running late so we delayed ordering. The food was good, nothing special on menu but some places can still mess up pizzas but they didn't. Also seemed very geared up to accomodating 5 people at relatively short notice which Strada & Prezzo couldnt do..4 seems to be magic number at some restaurants. Will certainly visit there again.

I went here twice last month and the food and service was consistently good. There was a good choice on the menu and the portions were generous. The staff were friendly and seemed to care if you liked your food. We went for a pre theatre meal and they made sure the food arrived promptly for us. There are often vouchers for mid week meals which meals it very reasonable to eat here

My wife had been before and had a good experience at Ask in Reading, so we chose to go for a bite to eat ahead of visiting the near-by Hexagon theatre.

We selected a couple of mains and decided upon some nibbles ahead of them to keep the wolf from the door. Stuffed foccacio bread was very with a bit of a hidden kick, but the olives/cheese and warm tomato crostini was disappointing, with the latter being cold instead of warm

Mains took a little while to arrive and were a tale of two dishes - the pollo milanese was very nice - a good sized piece of chicken with a nice mushroom sauce, with a side of roasted spuds. Conversely, the steak on flatbread was disappointing for the price. Steak was nice but was dwarfed by the amount of flatbread, all of which was rather cold.

We probably should have mentioned the cold nature of some of the dishes but were pushed for time to be able to get to the theatre before the performance began.

On other aspects, the interior and ambience was fine and the service was very good.

Overall, a bit of a mixed bag. We will probably give Ask another try to see how it fairs but, for us, the next visit will need to be spot on in order to retain our custom.

If you love Italian, you need to come here. For a restaurant chain, the food is top notch and quality doesnt suffer, which is common for large chains. Best ingredients used and the servers are very polite and efficient and make you feel welcome. P.s seafood linguini is divine :)
