What a wonderful evening. The warm greeting sets the evening in motion. We both had the gourmand option with their fine wine selection. Each of the courses were exquisite. And served with style and an accompanying wine to complement the experience. Sylvan and James mainly looked after us and deserve a special mention. So too the sommelier. I need to save some pennies to repeat the experience but a return visit is guaranteed.

We recently visited, and had the best evening ever. We were celebrating, and the service, food and atmosphere just made the day- amazing service, and delicious food. I can’t wait to have something to celebrate again, as we will most definitely be back. Lucky to live so close to somewhere this good.

4 of us dined here for the 7 course tasting menu. We opted for the wine flight and caviar supplement too. The meal was fantastic, especially the fioe gras parfait and the caviar dish. Some of the wine pairings were insanely good. I am definitely not an orange wine fan though so that particular one wasnt as enjoyable. Service was perfect - the sommelier was helpful and had some good banter too. Thanks for making my parents 65th wedding anniversary meal so special

Had the menu gourmand as a family birthday treat for mum, brother and myself. The top quality innovative menu alongside excellent and authentically enthusiastic service made for a five star evening. Each course was immaculately presented with a delightful mix of intricate and complimentary flavours, and the waiters, maitre ‘d (apologies forgot the names) and sommelier James were a fabulous triple act to round off the experience - excellent and friendly service made us feel really special and looked after. A truly memorable experience, thank you!

Outside eating, in Covidian times, difficult to get right, but L’Ortolan smashed it. Just the four tables, sensible time windows, and the food and service as good as ever, which is so very important as other starred venues have acted as if being open is enough. From the whitebait to the lobster thermidor vol au vents, through the divine lamb, and on to perfect parfaits and Gorgonzola ice cream, everything was outstanding. Service was attentive, fun and involving..
Single star dropped because of a difficult experience, our booking at 5pm overlapped with a table who had been there since midday, and it showed. They were having a good time, and clearly spending a lot of money, but some of their noise and offensive language spoiled our day a little. Tough call for the staff and we were grateful to be moved into the garden further for pudding and coffee.
