“Still the best Pizza in the area !”
Reviewed 17 February 2014 via mobile

We visit this branch of Pizza Express regularly and it is always our first choice compared with the other PE which is at The Oracle in Reading. The staff are always very attentive and make time for a brief chat - even when busy (not at the expense of others tho)

Food is generally of a consistent standard, but now and again portion sizes vary - for some reason and prices seem to be rising - so at full price it's not a cheap meal as it used to be anymore. Perhaps this has something to do with fact that The PE Club was shut down (a shame) and now random % deals appear occasionally - which we take advantage of when available.

The decor is beginning to look a little tatty, especially the cloakroom's (well the men's) perhaps plan's are in hand for a refurb - hope so !

Despite the minor criticisms, as above, this is still our first choice for a pizza.

“Saturday night supper after the cinema - disappointing :(”
Reviewed 2 February 2014 via mobile

Went here with the January promo of 3 courses for £19:95 post cinema visit - where as it
Is immensely good value , the soggy , tepid garlic bread and average pizzas didn't leave us feeling that we had got a bargain - pretty average food with luckily excellent service - disappointing

“Great Service, Average Food Quality”
Reviewed 8 January 2014 via mobile

Very good, attentive service but let down by the food I'm afraid.

Calabrese pizza (£12.80) is advertised as red hot and simply wasn't. Just a lot of cold mozzarella, leaves and tomato sauce. Really disappointing and not as described on the menu at all. Calzone (£12.95) looked amazing (although burned on the top) but wasn't hot all the way through resulting in cool, not cold, meat and unmelted cheese inside.

Coffee was cappuccino and tasted horrible, and it cost £2.50 so not great value for a very small cup.

Would have been a 2 star but I scored a 3/5 due to the good service.

Not the best pizza express but prob worth a visit.

“Good service, poor pizza”
Reviewed 16 December 2013 via mobile

The service here ( girl with the braces) was really friendly.
I ordered the side salad to start, trying to be healthy while eating out, it looked tired and was just tomato, lettuce and cucumber. The low-cal pizza with caramelised onion and goats cheese was okay, just a bit bland. I thought it was okay until I went to prezzo and for an extra quid or two the food was so much better. I won't be going to pizza express again, they really need to up their game.
