“Excellent all round indeed!”
Reviewed 26 August 2013

This is an excellent B and B just outside Sheffield and on the edge of the Peak District. The rooom we had, a 'superior' one , was just that, large, very comfortable, huge bed, and country views. The breakfast was just as good, with plenty of hot and cold choices, and a 'special' option too (smoked salmon and eggs on our visit). There are handy pubs to eat out, and apparently easy public transport links into the city.

Previous reviewers have said it all. Certainly the best B&B (or hotel) we have stayed at. Spotlessly clean everywhere, lots of thoughtful touches in the comfortable rooms and a great breakfast – why can't other B&Bs offer a decent vegetarian breakfast?
We will be looking for an excuse to return asap!

This is a top of the range B&B. Lovely rooms, very, very clean, excellent service from very friendly hosts and a wide choice from a lovely, tasty, breakfast menu. The slippers, dressing gowns and chocolates were a lovely additive to a thoroughly welcoming B&B. Top Class !!

We booked this as we were visiting family in Sheffield. It was great to be away from the hustle and bustle of the city. The rooms were spacious, spotlessly clean and I loved the extra touches, slippers, dressing gowns, chocolates. Helen is a lovely host making you feel very welcome. We loved the views from our room.
Close to public transport including the supertram. Bakewell, Castleton, Eyam all in close distance.
Barnfield House really is perfect

This is a beautiful Bed and Breakfast. The staff are lovely, particularly the young man who helped serve our yummy breakfast who had impeccable manners! We were upgraded at no extra cost to the four poster bedroom as it hadn't been booked, and it was stunning. The bathroom in particular was very pretty and spotless. We made good use of our slippers and dressing gowns and had a very comfortable stay even despite running to and from town for showers as it was so warm! The surroundings as well are just gorgeous, it's so peaceful. Definitely a lovely place to stay in Sheffield!

We would loved to have stayed longer at this excellent b and b. Nothing was too much trouble for Helen who made us feel totally at home. Everywhere is spotlessly clean and our bedroom was most comfortable. The location is great as we had to get into Sheffield early in the morning for our grandson's graduation and the countryside is just on the doorstep. Lovely views from the house and plenty of outdoor seats to use in the current beautiful weather.

This is our absolute benchmark for the perfect B and B. First of all, Helen and Michael make you feel so welcome. The place is spotless with lovely touches like chocolates, bathrobes and slippers in the bedroom. We don't know who stole the refreshers on the stairs (Helen's dish of sweets), but it wasn't us :-).
Beds are extremely comfortable and the views across the Loxley Valley really take some beating. We had a surprise in our bedroom this time (Little John), because we hadn't expected a bath that you could lie down in.
My husband has never found a breakfast to beat Barnfield House's and always sets it as the benchmark.
Hope we can one back later in the year, because it truly is one of my favourite places.
Well done Helen, Michael and Luke on achieving the perfect retreat.

Room Tip: They are all good. Robin of Loxley and Friar Tuck have brilliant views over the Loxley Valley.
