Stayed for an Uni visit with our son in a triple room. Perfectly adequate size, with a full size single bed and not a 'put u up' bed as the third bed.

Welcoming lobby and front of house staff.

We had dinner in the restaurant which was very quiet, but the food was good. The waitress was more than helpful with our queries regarding the uni, and how best to get there by foot.

Breakfast was the usual fayre, but well presented buffet style layout with fresh fruit, cereals and yoghurt etc. Again the breakfast staff were helpful. Free wifi available in the public areas, but not in the room.

Couldn't find the recommended car park via our Sat nav, so ended up paying £3.50 for overnight parking...just underneath the hotel. No problem with this.

Would definitely stay again if ever in Sheffield.

Having enjoyed stays in Jurys Inn hotels in London and Birmingham, I was quite happy to book into the Sheffield 'branch' when I had business at Sheffield University in October 2011.

The Jurys Inn at Sheffield offers an excellent value stay in walking distance from the University. Although they don't have their own parking facility, they have struck up an excellent deal with NCP parking just across the road (really came in handy and offered secure overnight parking).

The reception staff were very welcoming and efficient. The room was clean, spacious and quiet. The bathroom was of a good standard. After a hard days work at the Uni, I was thankful for a great nights sleep in a comfortable bed, with a good duvet and pillows!

Sadly they don't yet offer a free WiFi Internet service, but when one purchases a drink at the bar, it comes with a free 60 mins of WiFi access in the bar area. Was more than enough time for me to attend to the important emails in my ever full inbox!

My deal included a complimentary breakfast. This was a very appetizing full English option, but cereals and fruit etc. were also available. All very tasty and yummy!

At the very reasonable rate they charge, I feel the Jurys Inn Sheffield offers excellent value for a short stay.

Net Promoter Question: Would I recommend this establishment to a family member or friend? Answer: Yes, more than likely!

Very basic but clean, functional and great value for money hotel. Stayed here for a night out in Sheffield mid week. 3 of us shared a room and for the money and space is was great value. The bar area again is clean and basic but exactly what you need if you are planning to be out in the city. Well worth the stay.

second time i have stayed in jurys inn sheffield and for the money i paid for one night on friday 9th march (£39 inc breakfast for two) it is excellent value. the hotel reception , bar area, restaurant and rooms are really clean and tidy.the room we were in had a double bed and a single , a nice size widescreen tv, refreshments and a lovely bathroom with shower over bath.
location is excellent, ten minute stroll from train station and less than that to get into main shopping and bar areas of sheffield.
the one tip i will give is to ask for a room at the back. we did not hear a peep all night but the first time we visited we stayed at the front which is on a very busy main road and we did not sleep very well . also there was the thudding from a nearby nightclub until the early hours but this time we heard nothing.
good value hotel highly recommended .

Room Tip: rooms at the back are quieter

Me and my girlfriend stayed just 1 night when visiting sheffield. We were on the 8th floor as I fancied more of a view and it's nice to be higher up. The hotel is smart and modern the check in staff were efficient enough. The room was the average kind of size and ours had a double bed and a single which we didn't really need. The bathroom was smart and modern with a shower ( no bath tub) one issue was that the shower cubicle was a little dark and could definitely do with an extra source of illumination.
The bed was comfy enough. As with many hotel we had four little pots of milk with our tea making facilities, and when I rang down to reception in the morning to ask them to bring up a few more ( as we'd use the others on arrival making coffee) I was told 'we don't do room service'. Though this is probably me nit-picking it would be nice to have more milk in hotels as I like my tea and coffee.
Anyhow...the stay was pleasant enough though, and a great central location in the city, fried chicken takeaway over the road for any late night last minute refueling.
Sheffield is a great city for nice bars, drinks and a bohemian, studenty crowd.

Room Tip: 8th or 9th floor rooms are further away from any noise related to weekend revelers and offer a sligh...

We stayed here for one night on 3rd March 2012. We used the Furnival NCP Car park opposite the hotel and got a reduction in car park cost at the hotel; £4.00 instead of £6.90 for 24 hours.

The hotel itself is in a good location, 5 minutes walk to the centre of shops, bars and restaurants.

It is clean and tidy around the hotel. Nice and polite staff around. We didn't have breakfast but we were offered it on check in for 6.00 instead of the £10.50 it says on the website.

You need your room key card to access the lifts so that's a good safety feature. Our room was on the 7th floor overlooking some air conditioning units on the lower roof which was really noisey if the window was open. You couldn't hear it with window closed which was fine because the air con in room worked really well and kept us cool.

Room was clean and tidy and the shower was one of the best I've used in hotels. Red hot water and powerful.

Good nights sleep but one of the pillows on our bed was really thick and hard which left my girlfriend with an aching neck the following morning.

Overall a good stay.

Modern, contemporary interior design Hotel, relatively good locale off main road so GPS will find it, parking is across the main road which is awkward and on a slope, so call ahead and drop your luggage off, parking is another token based system so ensure you swipe your token on leaving for a 50% or so discount. the location is pretty central so a leisurely 15min walk will get you into the center, the staff are courteous and helpful.
Access to floors is via room card operated lifts , expect to be frustrated as the readers get dirty and collections of people start forming around the concourse for no good reason until the reception notices and sorts it out. located on a major artery into town, street noise maybe an issue however after 7pm Sheffield quietens down considerably -at least in the Winter.

Downside
Located on the borders of commercial / residential zone of the city , not much going outside the hotel unless you walk into town (which can be a good thing) quite a few Chinese restaurants located down adjacent side streets but the road layout in Sheffield city center is old world and its easy to get lost.
Guest room door restrainers in hotels are a constant source of puzzlement for me, are they to ensure the door is really really firmly shut - as when confronted by a hurricane force gale- or to restrain over exertion by the more lively and possibly inebriated guests? For me they usually equate to fully resisting my not inconsiderable frame as I try to force the door open, luggage in tow in as ungainly fashion as possible, typically as an attractive member of the opposite sex walks by, and as if to take revenge on being used the restrainer forces the door shut with the strength of an all nations flying rugby tackle. Seriously hoteliers around the world sort out this "utility", what a pain to be woken up to the sound of slamming doors.

Encroaching room noise ? yes.! its back to a matter of luck if your fellow guest is into 24 hr CCN world forecasts or not because you will hear the worst offenders, (i.e. not just entering or leaving their rooms as you will hear the whole floor anyway) otherwise rooms were average + clean and tidy didn't try restaurant looked ok, Bar staff friendly and courteous. For the sake of some decent door restrainers it would be a level higher in my estimation.
