“Great place to stay”
Reviewed 12 March 2014

Recently stayed at this hotel for a weekend city break and was very pleased with our choice. Check-in was quick and simple, room was clean, tidy and had everything we needed. Staff were friendly and helpful, especially the manager on duty who went out of her way to make our stay was a pleasent one. Everything in the city centre is a five minute walk and the car parking was in an NCP opposite charged at £4 per day when you get the chip scanned in the hotel. Much cheaper than most city centre carparking agreements.
Would definitely stay in this hotel again

Great service from reception, arrived at 12.20 and allocated a room straightaway. Lady said not busy the night before, so room ready.
Also, being there for the football, she allocated a room looking towards SUFC Bramall Lane. Although, that may be coincidence.
The bar service was good, and the code on receipt gave you an hour of the wifi.
Food service at bar was quick, although "sea-salted chips" just seemed to be soggy chips and no salt.Other items were ok.
Breakfast was ok. Full english buffet, although service was randomn. Meaning, no table service at all even for hot drinks, minimal staff so slowish table clearing, lady on the breakfast reception was not very helpful and only spoke to ask room number and not advise how breakfast worked.
Room 612 was a good room apart from the road noise. Some sound proofing but not great.
The room had all you needed.
Checking out was efficient. And leaving luggage until after the match was no problem.
In a nutshell, Reception excellent-Bar prices as expected and good service-Breakfast adequate.
If not on a BB rate breakfast is £10, so good value. Suppose more staff would increase the cost.

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from the main road, not that I know what the alternative is.

We stayed at Jury's Inn in Sheffield over the weekend of 7-9 March 2014; I use a wheelchair, my companion has dyspraxia, so we both might be described as 'disabled'.
Reception was good for wheelchair- users with lowered counter sections and legroom beneath the counter. However when we arrived at our room, we used the key-card to unlock the door only to discover the only way to open the door is by both of us pushing VERY VERY hard against the door closer. When we got into the room we discovered that there is a push-pad INSIDE the room to open the door. But there is no was of opening the door from outside.
We were moved to another room which was the same - all the rooms have this arrangement it seems.

In the bathroom the emergency alarm pull-cords were tied around the grabrails and all the cords were in the wrong place. There was one small ring towel-rail (for two people), no plug on the bathroom sink ("we have removed them, sir") and no lock on the bathroom door ("We have removed the locks on all the bathroom doors, in disabled rooms" - "Why?". No answer.

The managers to whom I spoke were equally evasive, non- apologetic and showed a total lack of understanding of disability. It appears that this a group standard - in my opinion the Jury has deliberated - that is the worst hotel group for disable in Britain.

Room Tip: Don't go to Jury's Inn

Dear Guest,

Many thanks for your review of Jurys Inn Sheffield. I very much appreciate the feedback in relation to the facilities at the hotel. When Jurys Inn Sheffield opened the hotel over 5 years now we sought out advise in relation to our "disabled facilities" in the hotel including how the door opens and where we should place pull cords etc. I appreciate now that 5 years later this advise might be out dated and it is something that my management team are looking into.

I do hope we have the opportunity in the future to welcome you back to Jurys Inn Sheffield.
Kind regards
David Livingstone

Friendly, clean and practical in the center of Sheffield. Nice hotel. Everything one needs for a short business trip (free wifi included). The hotel is conveniently located within walking distance from the city center and from the university.

Having done a busy day of tours, this was exactly as advertised. Average accommodation that allowed good rest. The room was clean , the bed was reasonable. There is a mini-supermarket within walking distance, but as it was a Sunday when I stayed... there was very little else available in the area. Fortunately it was not necessary. The hotel met my needs.

Great for the money. Slightly dated but can't complain at all for the price. Lovely communal areas. Comfy beds. Large enough rooms and in a great location to everything. Will stay again if and when back in Sheffield
