Description: Flouch Balti, located in the Flouch Inn in Hazelhead, is a hidden gem near Sheffield specialising in Balti Indian dishes. The restaurant, with dark burgundy walls, potted plants and a bubbling fish tank, is a popular with local couples and families and is a fun place for parties and celebrations. The kitchen is renowned for their delicious curries, and poplar items from the menu include the Chicken Tikka Masala in a creamy sauce; the Prawn Balti cooked with garlic, chillies and masala sauce; and the Tandoori Palong – chicken cooked in the tandoori oven then sautéed with garlic. Flouch Balti also serves Kingfisher beer alongside an extensive and reasonably priced wine list.

As usual the food is excellent if slightly pricy. the staff never fail to amaze me with their courteous and friendly attitude even when run off their feet.

I usually have the Bhuna dish which comes with generous amounts of chicken. One criticism would be that the poppadoms are always cold when you receive them (as seems to be the norm in most Indian restaurants these days)

The atmosphere is relaxed and the tables well spaced out for privacy. It is also worth trying their sister restaurant in nearby Holmfirth which is similar. As a note the beers are well priced.

The Flouch Balti House Indian restaurant is situated just off the A628 Woodhead- A616 Langsett roundabout. The Flouch Inn closed recently but the Balti is still up and running so do not be put off by the For Sale signs etc. It looks like the middle of nowhere but this place has built up a loyal clientele who come from Huddersfield, Barnsley, Sheffield etc. We have friends who have travelled to Bradford and Sheffield in search of good Indian food and they cannot believe this place is almost on our doorstep. The restaurant is reached either by a flight of stairs down or, you can drive around the back and there is an entrance on the flat i.e. for disabled guests.

The pickle tray here comes with an onion relish which disappears first every time, naans and rice excellent. My favourite dishes are the Haryali Murgh Massala - its a lovely shade of green as its spinach, mint and coriander combination with chicken - very clean taste. Also the Makhani which has a tomato base. For fans of the hotter stuff the jalfrezi seems to get top marks every time. Every dish has its own flavour- which is as it should be in a good restaurant. Their takeaway service does very well.

You can eat and go or stay all night here - they have a comfortable seating area- please yourself. We have done both and never felt rushed. Service friendly and professional.

Probably not the most plush Indian restaurant around but it's clean, the staff are just so helpful and friendly and not pushy. It's not a conveyor belt dining experience. And the food, well it's superb! not over spiced and doesn't give you the generally expected morning after effects that can ruin the day.
The prices are low to mid-range too. We live in a village with 3 Indian restaurants within walking distance and will always travel to the Flouch. It can't be beaten....we have tried!

Located midway between Stocksbridge and Holmfirth and set in the basement of the Flouch Inn, is this little gem of an Indian Restaurant. With good food and equally good service, this must be the best Indian Restaurant for miles around.

Always busy, it is useful to book beforehand. Has a pleasant and bustling atmosphere which makes for a good evening out. I particularly recommend the superb pickle tray and the lamb balti. Very reasonably priced. Well worth a visit.
