Nice hotel situated very close to the Children's hospital. My room was small but seeing as I was staying there on my own it wasn't uncomfortable. I had a nice meal in the restaurant which was reasonably priced. Attentive staff and great WiFi speeds. I must agree with some other reviews that I would consider this more in the 3 Star category. Got a good price on booking.com

Used the hotel this last weekend as base for a family wedding taking place at church and restaurant locally. The hotel comprises a set of victorian houses interconnected to make a very interesting hotel with rooms that have been modernised. The staff were superb - always friendly and willing to help in any way. The breakfast was excellent with good service - however whilst the dinner food was also very good the wait time from ordering to delivery was excessive (we were a party of 10 so that might be a mitigating factor). My only real criticisms concern the en suite facilities and the in room air con. The en suite shower had no end panel so the floor of the bathroom became very wet and there was no shaver point. As for the air con, the problem was that the temp sensor appeared to be at ceiling level because you had to set the thermostat to some 30+ degrees before anything happened.

Just spent a night here, had two rooms for my family. Room 114 was lovely and spacious and all the things we'd requested were ready and waiting, wine juice etc. Room 106 was a little smaller than expected and only had a shower but was still really lovely.

Decor beautiful, contemporary and finished to a high standard. However, towel rails very very hot, to the point of burning to the touch.

Reception staff were warm and professional. Made us feel very welcome. Breakfast was great, lots of options and the serving staff were so lovely. Coffee and tea too strong/stewed. That aside great start to the day.

Came back for lunch, was served by the Duty Manager Kerry, who to be honest was really grumpy and provided the bare minimum of service in terms of her attitude. Sorry Kerry but is true. Read my other reviews you'll see I'm really fair.

Room Tip: Go for room 114

This hotel is over-priced and outdated. My husband and I stayed there recently for a Saturday night when attending an event in Sheffield. Our room smelt of cigarette smoke, it was dark and stuffy and the general decor is old fashioned and drab. My husband received an email confirmation for a room with bed and breakfast but, upon arrival, we were informed that we had a room only. We had no apology for the adminstrative error the hotel had made. The reception staff were unhelpful and cold. We would never stay here again and would not recommend anyone else to stay here either.

We paid 120 plus another 20 for breakfast to stay in a executive room. We feel slighty over priced for the room, yes it was nice but did expect slighty better extra's like a nicer coffee in the room, and a bath and shower instead of just a shower.

The bathroom still had hairs / dirt in tray when we arrived. The pillows are in need of replacing very lumpy.

The overall hotel is looking tired, the bar / restaurant area could do with menu's on table. so many steps up and down to get to rooms if you have any trouble walking or dodgy knees its hard work.

Staff are very helpful throughout . Would not return though.

Room Tip: Ask for one near reception !! Or how many flights of steps will you have !!

We arrived at the hotel the reception staff were friendly and helpful. When we arrived at our room the first impressions were unusual decor but it blended in with all the rest of the room. The room was spotless and the ensuite decor was excellent the only small problem was a creaking floorboard in the enterance but this is with it being an old building. We had a bar meal which was very good and the breakfasts were excellent although we had to pay extra for them but well worth it. We would recomend this hotel and will definently stay here again when wanting a weekend away in Sheffield

We stayed at this hotel for one night and never again. At £120 per night is is very overpriced. It is a nightmare for disabled access but the website does not mention this. The hotel entrance and our room were absolutely filthy, cigarette butts in the foyer, thick fluff on the carpets, thick dust on the woodwork etc ............. Above our bed was a large photographic image of a young girl (roughy 8 years old) which we found totally bizarre and disturbing. Unless you want to lie in bed looking up at a child we suggest you avoid room 130!!! The staff were friendly and the breakfast was okay, but otherwise this was a dreadful experience never to be repeated.

Room Tip: Do not consider if you have mobility issues. Refuse room 130 unless you want to stare at a large im...
