On arrival we just managed to find a car parking space (several cars had taken up 2 spaces due to the awkward layout (later found out that there is a second parking area at the other side of the hotel.) Would recommend that a sign be erected to advise customers that there is another parking area. A bit of a hike to find the reception where our arrival was handled efficiently. Another hike up and down bits of stairs and corridors to find the room which was on the small side but nicely decorated. The only real negative points were that the tv was situated high on the wall and trying to watch it whilst laying on the bed meant that the picture was not at the correct angle. The bed was harder than expected and we could not get comfortable. We had an enjoyable evening meal and, again, the staff where very efficient and friendly. Breakfast was good (a bit pricey however) and the Staff were not as positive as the evening staff. Based on the price of the rooms we can only give the Rutland 3 stars.

Very disappointed with the Rutland hotel, we booked double room but found only two tea bags on the hostess tray and one pack of biscuits and no spoon. The bathroom had a bad smell of drains, over head shower but no shower cap to keep your hair dry. Net curtains at window torn and dirty, the air con did not work so had to open windows, but were very hard to shut again. Soap dispenser over sink to high up and toilet to high. Room had not been aired and smelt stale, would not stay there again expected better for four stars. Only good point staff very pleasant and polite, would not recommend staying there.

First the good bits - the staff were a delight - very pleasamt group of people.
the food was excellent - niceley served, and steaming hot.
Sadly, there the compliments have to end. This hotel is a disaster for anyone with any kind of mobility problem. The dining room is down 14 steep steps. No lift anywhere - steps up and down even inside the bedrooms.
Our room was dark, even with all the lights on, with screwed shut window. Dark decor, dark curtains, dark coloured bedspread, dark carpet.
The bathroom could have been the saving grace, sadly it had obviously been fitted by a very tall person. The wc was so high my feet didn't reach the ground, and the handwash beside the handbasin was exactly 5'2" off the ground. Also - since the drain didn't work at all - one shower meant the bathroom was totally flooded.
Before staying we asked - did they have rooms with king size beds - we were told they all did. Our bed was a bog standard 4'6" double - which according to the Rutland is the new UK King Size bed!!!
Such a shame - having looked at the website, we were looking forward to our stay.

Room Tip: Only stay at this hoitel if you are fully mobile - and happy to negotiate dozens of steps

It's very close to university, but otherwise I wouldn't recommend it. Very small room, the bathroom was ridiculous, no fridge or mini bar facility, the hair dryer didn't work...etc...and we were in an executive room. Not impressed!

Very friendly staff – happy to help. Lots of options for breakfast and again very friendly waiting staff. The single room was very small, i.e. the floor space was about the size of 3 single beds, but it had everything you need, e.g. desk, cupboard, with a clear and well functioning bathroom. Functional and fine.

Room Tip: There is not lift

There was excellent support for our conference event including wi-fi and projection facilities. The staff were friendly and helpful & the food and refreshments were excellent.

I did not sleep there or try the fitness facilities.

They did the biz! :)

We arranged our party to have a meal at the Rutland Hotel the evening was excellent. The whole evening was a delight and our wives enjoyed it so much we have been told to book it again later on in the year. Food excellent and the service we could not fault it would recommend this venue for an evening out if you are wanting good food and service.
