“Good Value, Comfortable Stay”
Reviewed 29 December 2013

We've stayed in this hotel a number of times now as we have family in the area, so probably time to write a review! The rooms are always nice and clean and a good size, and staff are always friendly and helpful. The area around the bar is a pleasant place to chill out, and the food is of a good quality, including the breakfast. All in all a good value place to stay.

This was our second visit to the Mosborough Hall Hotel. We were allocated the Lord John Darcy room which is a four poster bedroom with oak panelling. The room has a excellent modern bathroom and was clean. We relaxed in the comfortable chairs with our feet resting on the footrest whilst watching tv. The double bed was very comfortable.
The room was in the original part of the hall and was accessed via stairs which could be a problem for people with disabilities.
Breakfast was served to order and was plentiful. The staff on duty at reception and in the restaurant were friendly and helpful.
I would recommend this hotel having been back for a second visit.

Room Tip: Worth asking for an upgraded room

We stayed here for two nights before Christmas and were very happy with our b+b deal. The standard room had ample space and the service at breakfast was great. If you're in the area this is a good option with plenty of parking and a nice bar.

Having read the above review regarding the family Christmas meal I just want to reiterate how fantastic the day was. Myself and my family attended the lunch also, the 3 course's was a credit to the chef it was excellent quality. All of the staff made the day a memorable one and the visit from santa made it even More special, the atmosphere when he walked in was magical, the children couldn't believe their eyes my son absolutely loved it and the present he received. Well done to the staff that organised it we truly enjoyed ourselves just hope you do another one next year.

We stayed here for a pre-Xmas getaway, treating ourselves to the Robert de Stuteville suite. The room was nice, as shown on the photos online, but was showing some wear and tear, for example one of the curtains was hanging off the rails in the middle and all the curtain hooks were on the floor in the corner, and there was a rip in one of the curtains.
Overall everything was good, including food.
My 2 negative points would be:
The buildings are old and not double glazed. Both the restaurant and bar area felt chilly and there is quite a draught if you are near windows.
The entire door to the en-suite bathroom of the Robert Suite was clear glass! Call me a prude but I think this is unecessary and did take away from some of the romance of our night. There is a freestanding bath in the main bedroom which is great and was very much enjoyed (!) but then when you go to the loo or do your personal bits in the bathroom I do think it is important to have the option of privacy. If you're so close as a couple that you want to see everything, you can always leave the door open! The bathroom is designed that the toilet itself is just around the corner from the door, but you can still clearly see legs etc to know what's going on, which made me feel a bit uncomfortable. The sink and mirror is directly in front of the glass door, so don't think you can pluck a quick hair or squeeze a spot without being in full view of the bedroom!
On a purely practical note, the glass door also meant the bedroom was flooded with light when my husband went to the loo in the middle of the night, so there was no avoiding being fully awake by the time he'd finished, rather than just mild stirring had there been a proper door.

Overall a pleasant stay, but I really don't see the attraction of the glass door and think a wooden replacement would be far more appropriate given that there is already a bath in the room for the romantic side of what goes on in bathrooms.

we went with friends for the Christmas lunch.I have no complaints about the venue or the staff who were lovely, however the meal was anything but, we were very disappointed .The starter ,mackerel was tiny, the beef was ok the mash is very like the powdered type you can get and red cabbage and that was it. how much does veg cost to add to a meal? I nearly had a fit when I found on paying the bill that a pint of Guiness was £4.30.Altogether not my favourite venue,we won't be back

We attended a Christmas dinner on Sunday the 15th of December,
We has quite a large party and within the chats worth suite there was a lot of other parties exactly the same.
We thought when looking at the situation that service would be chaos, however we have to say this was not the case and all the table was more then happy with the 3courses put in front of them with half courses for the children,
There was a lot of children all over the place and the staff did really well to avoid drops and spills and I know from just cooking Xmas dinner for family at home this is easily done with kids running a around everywhere. So thank you to all the serving staff who worked really hard.
This trip was topped off just to see the kids faces when no other then Santa walked into the room, drinking a glass of milk he made the children's week giving them all a little gift which can I say good job at making them all age appropriate :) the children loved this and it's this that makes mosborough hall stand out from other hotels that wouldn't make that extra effort. Later found out that it was a member off their staff who played Santa so would like to say thank you, you did amazing and your very brave taking on the role for that many kids haha
So overall the experience was amazing and a great place to get all the family together.
And merry Christmas to you all, keep it up x
