Just returned from our first stay at the Don Valley Hotel in Sheffield.....There was eight of us booked an overnight stay for the purpose of visiting family. On arrival we thought we had made a bad decision as the area is not the best......WRONG, The hotel , owners and staff were friendly and made our stay a memorable one. The rooms are superb, equipped with tea / coffee facilities and a lush comfy bed, TV etc...The full english breakfast was excellent value for money, the staff could'nt do enough for you, the drinks are not badly priced and all residents are well catered for.We only stayed one night on this visit, but will return as this hotel ticked every box....10/10 *****

Room Tip: This is a start of many visits as Ray and Scott are ideal hosts. Another few pubs in immediate vicin...

The hotel is set in a very dishevelled and unsavoury part of Sheffield. The hotel front is tyypical public house with a few floors on top. Once inside you see a dartboard, cheapest pool witnessed (20p a game in 2014 is a bargain by anyones standards).

The welcome is warm and sincere although they did lack clarity as to what room was booked by us. Once this was alieveiated the room itself was clean with a reasonable sized bathrom and good space in the bedroom which was very well acoustically treated. (technical way of saying we couldn't hear the pub downstairs).

A few minor things to inform you of though.
1) No shelf in the shower for holding shower gel and the like.

2) Quilt was not great quality being patchy and lumpy.

3) Car park was small so get your spot in early.

The hotel is not great for Sheffield city centre but is IDEAL for the arenas and meadowhall shopping centre. Cheap, adequate and freindly enough, it would suit single people/couples on a budget opposed to families who might find the rooms a bit of a squeeze.

Room Tip: Do not arrive expecting silver cutlery and the like and you won't go far wrong. Try to arrive by...

This is by far the best hotel i have ever stayed in. The staff are all polite, make you feel at home and love to have a laugh. They have a pool table which is as cheap as 20p possibly the cheapest in the country!! Also a juke box all in the same room. They serve lovely home made meals monday-friday £5 each better than eating from fast food restaurants. In another room there is a bar with 3 television screens and a smoking area out the back with seats and heaters. Rooms cleaned everyday with fresh towels. Will definitely be returning!!

We stayed at the Don Valley after a night out in Sheffield. The main factor for booking at this hotel was that it was so cheap (£40.00 a night for a double room). We weren't expecting much and had low expectations before we checked in, based on how little we had paid for our room. We couldn't have been more wrong! From the moment we arrived the owners made every effort to make us feel welcome and went out of their way to ensure we had a comfortable stay. Our room and the en-suite bathroom were spotless - the towels were really big and fluffy and the bedlinen was fresh and crisp with huge pillows. We had been worried, that because of the bar downstairs, it would be noisy, but it was really peaceful and we got a really good night's sleep. We have previously stayed in the Ibis Budget and similar low cost hotels but the Don Valley is so much nicer and we would thoroughly recommend it to anybody who is looking for a reasonably priced, friendly, clean establishment. The owners really are doing an excellent job - well done!

Stopped at the hotel 06/12/13 when attending the Motorpoint arena (10 min walk). Pub area was lively and very friendly. Rooms smallish but spotless. Staff very friendly & helpful. Would highly recommend if not wanting to over pay for Ibis/Premier Inn.

My Wife, brother and myself stayed in the hotel the night of my graduation (22nd of November 2013). We found the room on lastminute.com at a very reasonable price! When we arrived we met Scott, the owner, who could not have been more hospitable and welcoming. I Graduated in Hospitality Business Management so I tend to notice and appreciate good service a great deal but even my brother was completely overwhelmed by the fantastic and friendly service we received from the staff!! Good lively atmosphere for those who want a good night out. Perhaps not suitable for everyone. We will be back no doubt!!

Room Tip: Get a room on the top floor if you want a quiet night.
