Gorgeous part of Sheffield, extremely quiet out of term time.
Staff were exceptionally friendly, so helpful and ready to help with anything, including take out sandwiches for breakfast when we left at 4.30am to go watch the Tour de France!

We had a one night stay at this hotel last week and were very impressed. The rooms are very clean with modern fittings. The evening meal and breakfast were superb and the staff provided the best service we have had in a hotel, they were all keen to please and nothing was too much trouble. No complaints at all and wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

After visiting a few times for Sunday lunch when an offer came up we decided to book into the hotel for DBB, although we did get a few comments from family and friends as we are locals and live less than 5 mins walk from the hotel. We were not disappointed and we felt we had gone away to a lovely hotel. They bedrooms are of a very high standard, although remembering this was a female hall of residence the rooms are not large. The bathroom was lovely. Evening in the very busy bar and lovely restaurant was good, perhaps our only reservation is we are a little fed up with the same overcooked roasted root vegetables. Breakfast was excellent the bacon and sausages of a very high standard and it was very busy. We would recommend the hotel and will definitely go on our long journey again to visit. Thank you.

Stayed for one night with a Dinner and Breakfast deal and found the staff fantastic from the start. Arrived a little bit early and room wasnt ready but we had a drink in the bar while we waited.

Were shown to our room which was very tastefully decorated and clean with a lovely comfortable bed, it was small but adequate. Bathroom very roomy and clean with a large shower, fluffy towels and a bath robe and slippers. Shown how to use tv and access free wifi. Thought the coffee station was a good idea and was always well stocked, biscuits were beaut.

The hotel is a fantastic old building but its the staff who make this hotel brilliant. Soooo friendly from start to finish. There weren't many of them but Jamie, Jose, the lady on reception (sorry dont know her name) and Stuart were so helpful and friendly, nothing was too much trouble. Jose even opened the side door so we could come in that way from our walk to save us walking around the front. At dinner Jamie from reception was helping serve as he told us next morning they were short staffed but he did it well and with a smile. Dinner was very nice, not a large menu but you would have to be very picky to not find anything, and wine excellent. Breakfast good too though was much busier so service was slower but lots of choice and freshly cooked.

The only downside was the noise from the university campus which when the window was open as it was a hot night was annoying though not too bad when the window was closed.

The public areas are comfortable and very relaxing. This is a lovely hotel, where the staff are superb and are prepared to go the extra mile. Will stay again.

Lovely old building from the outside, set in well looked after grounds. Stayed here for two nights, Sunday and Monday, the staff were helpful from the time of booking to our departure, especially Jamie.

For the price we paid £95 for two nights, for two including breakfast, I feel a little mean pointing out the minor flaws but I will as all information is useful.

Pros:
Friendly & Helpful Staff
Beverage facilities for rooms, good choice, nice biscuits and fresh fruit
Bedding, towels and bathrobe good quality
Situation good for town and country
Breakfast choice

Cons:

The main gripe is that the building is extremely hot, mainly in the hallways and room, we had to have the window open constantly to cool the room which may be a problem when there is noise and you are trying to sleep.

The Standard Double room: Is very small, though the en-suite shower room is quite roomy (The shower however did not generate enough water to wash anything and the water was not very warm, mentioned it to Jamie on reception on our departure who informed us it would be looked at that day)

Breakfast.. Would have been so much better if the plates were hot so the food would not have gone cold!

Cleanliness: Stairs and hallways needed to be vacuumed same crumbs for the whole visit!

On the whole I would recommend this hotel as great value for money and Ideally situated for either the town or the surrounding wonderful countryside and it's lovely helpful staff.

Room Tip: Avoid ones near fire doors as they tend to bang. If you only need to sleep then a standard double w...

I stayed in this hotel as I was attending a conference in the centre of Sheffield for two nights

The staff were lovely upon arrival and remembered why I was there - on the last morning at breakfast asking if my day had went well was a nice touch. They were very attentive, in particular the man that checked us in on the evening of the 11th (apologies, I didn't catch his name).

The rooms are small but sufficient enough. The bathroom is large, almost about half the size of the main room. I would suggest that there needs to be a mirror in the main room, on the desk. I see from some of the other reviews that this has been mentioned and not sure why it hasn't been added. Blowdrying and straightening hair without a mirror is just a bit of an inconvenience which could be easily rectified.

There are tea and coffee making facilities on each floor, which was good, and different to anywhere I had stayed before.

This hotel is located right next to the student halls of residence and so if you think the noise will bother you, then do not stay here. On both nights there was quite a bit of noise, but having lived in halls myself at one time, it didn't bother me. I knew the location when I booked.

I'd definitely stay here if I was to return to Sheffield.
