Beautiful hotel set in the campus grounds. No problems with noisy students. Nice rooms, excellent, informative and friendly staff, .and decent choice for breakfast, pricey drinks but good selection. Coffee machines and cookies are delicious. My only complaint about this hotel would be the attention to some very minor details. Spilt drink stains down walls, dust in rooms on doors, radiators and ledges, staircases not hoovered, dirty windows on landings. Such a lot of effort to look good but just missing the finishing little touches. Maybe invest in a magic wall eraser?

Dear shellroamer,

Thank you for your review. Lovely to read you enjoyed your stay with us. I can assure you our food and drink prices are very competitive for the Sheffield area, great to see you enjoyed the coffee and cookies we offer to all guests. The hotel is currently having a touch up since opening so if you visit us again hopefully you'll notice any differences!

Look forward to hopefully another visit from yourself,
Laura.

Dear tuckswood,

What a lovely review to read. So nice to read that you really enjoyed your stay and your time in Sheffield. I'm sure there's still plenty of the Peak District left for you to visit so hopefully we'll see you again soon!

Kind regards,
Laura.

Good points- the room was very clean and modern with an excellent bathroom and nice toiletries. There were no tea and coffee facilities in the room but there was a large coffee/ tea making station on each floor with home made cookies and a wide selection of beverages, I think this worked well and allowed a good quality beverage with little hassle. There was a large selection for breakfast, it was tasty and filling. All the staff were friendly and helped with any queries or problems we had.

Bad points- room was very nice but slightly small and the door to the room slammed violently which scared the crap out of my wife every time we left the room.
The food in the restaurant was a bit over priced for what u got but was nice.

Overall very nice stay.

Dear Guppyy,

Thank you for your review. I’m glad you enjoyed our coffee offering and the toiletries we offer in the bathrooms. Before opening we worked hard to ensure we offered luxury items throughout the hotel and these were 2 of the key area’s we really focused on. All of the en-suite bedrooms have been built into existing girls bedrooms so the designers worked hard to use the space provided most effectively. All rooms are king size beds, suites or twin beds. The doors on the bedrooms can be a little heavy however they are fire doors so due to regulation must be like this.
Thank you again, have a lovely day,
Laura

Halifax Hall is the perfect place to stay. I have stayed here twice now and on both occasions can say that it was 10/10. The rooms are beautifully decorated, the beds are unbelievably comfortable. The shower is like a dream. Breakfast was great and so were the staff. Such a beautiful building, I hope to come back soon.

We stayed here whilst we visited our son at Uni . Anyone who has visited a student house will understand our need for cleanliness, comfort and calm.

Halifax Hall ticked every box. The hotel was easy to find; the room was spacious enough and decorated beautifully; the staff were keen to please and the price of the room was a bargain as it included a substantial breakfast!

Coffee and cookies were freely available which was a plus. As were toiletries in the large shower room.

The advertised crispy bacon was not crispy. Having said that, the breakfast was lovely and lots of choice from yogurt to black pudding!

If I am honest both nights we were disturbed by a small amount of noise from outside- students night one and bins (?) on the second night. This is a city hotel though and it was quiet and relaxing 99% of the time.

If you are looking for quality accommodation, with good service , in a city location then this is the place for you.

If you want countryside and fields - try further out!

Dear Julie B,

Thank you for your honest review. It’s great for us to read reviews like these. I’m sorry the bacon wasn’t crispy as advertised, the next time you stay with us, be sure to mention this to the server who can let the chef know. Good luck to your son at Uni this year, and the next time you’re visiting him think of us!
Kind regards,
Laura.

We visited the hotel last week just as a night away. The staff were friendly,we meet Kim at dinner. She's a shining star who will go far.
The room's are very clean and the bed was comfortable.
One word of warning don't have a room next to the drinks table. It was very noisy with people getting drinks late at night and early in the morning. We didn't get much sleep !

We stayed here for an evening because a party was being held here. The rooms are compact but very well done. The bath had no tub but had a rain shower that was very large. The bathroom was very spacious and even had a live plant on the sill. One little issue that seems to occur in most every hotel we visit is that there is not enough light at the bathroom mirror. The lights are behind you when you are at the sink so I wonder how anyone is able to apply makeup, insert contact lenses or the like. The coffee stations are located in the hall and make a great cup of freshly ground coffee. I would suggest taking a cup with you to breakfast because it is better than what they serve. The staff was perfect and very helpful all during our stay. The safe was only large enough for maybe a wallet but ours would not even stay locked so it was useless. The bathroom fan was shut off at the ceiling main but we found out why when we turned it on. The pull switch was broken and would not turn it off and as it was noisy we quickly turned it off again.

Dear BillandBobAtlanta,

Thank you for your review. We work hard to ensure guests enjoy their stays with us, whether they are attending an onsite celebration or visiting Sheffield and just resting here.
The coffee in our machines on our bedroom floors is the same coffee we offer guests at breakfast, the only difference is the bean has already been ground for us ready to use on our breakfast service. All safes are tested on check outs ready for the next guests arrival so a phone to the front desk would have ensured this was able for you to use. Our bathroom fans are on sensors so if needed can be switched off at the mains, otherwise they will remain on whilst there is a light on in the bathroom.

If you are in Sheffield again it would be nice to see you, best wishes,
Laura.
