Chose this hotel as our usual one was fully booked,we found the hotel to be warm clean and comfortable.
The staff were welcoming and helpful.
+ points coffee and tea station near the room, the fact that you could have anything off the breakfast menu included in the price of your stay(most its just a boring continental)
the hotel is well situated for walking to the pubs and cafes on Fulwood road
- point there was a wedding on during our stay which although the noise didn't disturb us we couldn't get parked in the hotel car park and had to park in a side road nearby, which was not too bad because the neighborhood looks safe
there was no bottled water in the room
overall we will use this hotel again on our many trips to Sheffield.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for your lovely review on Halifax Hall.

It’s so lovely to receive reviews such as this – thank you very much! We work extremely hard here at Halifax Hall to ensure that our guests enjoy their stay and I’m so pleased to see that you are impressed with the services that we offer.

We have a great team at Halifax Hall, everyone is friendly, helpful and willing to go above and beyond for all our guests. I will pass on the lovely comments to our staff, they will be very pleased to hear your comments. We always have 24 hour reception too so if we have had been informed we could have brought some water for you.

Instead of having coffee/tea making facilities in the rooms, we have quality bean-to-cup coffee machines on every floor that our guests can help themselves to as much as they like! The coffee machines are very popular amongst our guests, as are the cookies!

We hope to hear again from you soon, please keep us in mind the next time you visit Sheffield.

Kind Regards,

Frankie Dawson.

We stayed for one night only. More expensive than we usually like, but it did include breakfast. We had originally planned to come in the car but decided to come on the train and our son acted as our taxi. The car park seemed full probably due to the wedding that was on while we were there. The staff were extra friendly at reception, took us to the room and explained everything. the room was fine, a bit small but very clean. the bed was comfortable and the shower was great. Noise was not an issue as we were at the very end of a corridor, but the fire door next to our room was partially open and we could not close it. Breakfast was disappointing. My husband usually only has muesli for breakfast and there was none so he had yogurt and granola which was OK. We ordered pancakes as we thought it would be a nice change, but they were large and rubbery and did not seem freshly cooked. In addition one of mine was burnt so I could not eat it. Would think twice before coming again, and we come to Sheffield a lot as our sons live there.

Room tip: Make sure you check about parking beforehand

Dear Guest,

Thank you for your review of Halifax Hall hotel, it’s great to know you enjoyed your stay. We have a great team here and I’m glad you noticed, everyone was very happy to hear your comments on our hardworking staff.

Our reception girls are all extremely friendly and efficient and aim to make check in and out as smooth as possible. We show all of our guests to the room in order to give a brief tour of the hotel, carry any luggage our guests may have and make them aware of the amenities we provide.

We provide our guests with a selection of cereals, freshly baked pastries and fruits along with a hot breakfast cooked to order. All of our ingredients are locally sourced and we believe that we offer our guests a much higher quality of breakfast than other hotels. I am sorry that on this occasion the breakfast was not up to our usual high standards and I assure you that this is not normally the case. We have recently changed our breakfast menu, which we always trying to improve.

We appreciate all feedback so we can continue to grow as a business and ensure that our service standards are always improving. Thank you again for your review.

We hope to see you again soon.

Kind Regards,

Frankie Dawson.

A warm welcome by the receptionist was extended by all the staff we encountered. Room with en-suite, was clean and welcoming. However, wife was disappointed that there was no makeup mirror or task lighting in the en-suite.
Comfortable bed and complimentary tea and coffee is available from self service machine in hallway.
Cooked breakfast was nice, although would have been better had it been served on a hot plate as the food was not as hot as we would have liked.
The hotel was full and as a concquence we found it very difficult to find a parking space.
Overall the hotel does offer good value and service.

Hope you find this review helpful.

We had spoken at length to the staff responsible for booking functions and had driven over especially the evening before to drop off the Picture boards so that when the room was set up for the following afternoon they could be placed within the room as discussed.
We arrived, after the funeral, on a bitterly cold December day a little later than originally planned, only to find the room utterly unprepared, no food or drink ready for our guests and no picture boards displayed as requested.
When a member of staff was found they explained they were waiting for us to arrive before setting out welcome drinks - why???? This was totally not what had been requested. Why have us pay for sparkling wine on arrival if it is not available "on arrival".
Then turning to the food and drink provision itself. We had opted for the afternoon tea which carried a surcharge because apparently its difficult to serve in this way - I fail to understand why - but even so the picture displayed on the hotel website bore no resemblance whatsoever to the food that was provided.
The sandwiches, for which we had paid a surcharge to have an additional round per person, were on bread that I would have thrown out as stale, with crusts on and frankly just such a poor selection for the price that I could have cried. I felt so very let down!
The cakes were no better - jam doughnuts that looked like they had been bought in a supermarket and were not fresh either were served as part of the petits fours. Now I know this is Yorkshire, but really!
Its taken me months after the event to be able to even write about the service, or lack of it, that we received so upset was I by the appalling standards.
For example we had paid for 10 bottles of sparkling wine to be served. But all the bottles in the room were empty so we imagined that they had been consumed by our guests so had no issue with this. However, on departing, we were given some bottles that we had paid for that they had failed to serve......just another example of how let down we felt we were by the service.
I could go on but instead I will simply close by saying that I could not, in any way, recommend this hotel.

My wife and I stayed for three nights whilst in the area to visit our daughter who now lives in Sheffield. The hotel was clean, and well run, with friendly, welcoming staff. We had a comfortable room and enjoyed our breakfasts. The hotel is in a great location and we really enjoyed our stay. The staff were all very helpful throughout.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for lovely review.

Reviews like this always put a smile on my face. We work extremely hard here at Halifax Hall to ensure that our guests have a great stay and guest service is our number one priority, it’s great to know you enjoyed your stay.

Thank you for your kind review of our hotel and your lovely words about our staff. The team here are some of the nicest and most hardworking people I’ve had the privilege of working with and I’m glad this comes across to our guests. I will make sure that all of our staff see this lovely review.

The building was formerly a Victorian steel baron’s mansion and was later renovated into a University hall of residence for more than 80 years. We have maintained a lot of the buildings original features such as parquet flooring and fireplaces in some of the bedrooms and function rooms. As a mansion it had its own grounds, before being built upon by the surrounding halls of residence. Our promotional images show off the building’s original character as we are rather fond of our hotels history.

I’m glad to hear that you enjoyed your breakfast, I will pass on your lovely comments about breakfast to the head chef, he will be very happy to hear that you found it to be of great quality.

We hope you keep us in mind the next time you visit Sheffield. Please contact the hotel directly to get the best rates on 0114 2228810.

Kind Regards,

Frankie Dawson.
