“Great cafe reasonably priced and handy for dog walking!”
Reviewed 2 June 2014

Echo the positive recent reviews about the cafe; clean, well located with helpful and welcoming staff..hot chocolate to rival eccelsall road offerings, good selection of cakes, plenty of dog walkers on a sunny day but not intrusive, close by the children's playground..no complaints!

“Coffee in the sun”
Reviewed 29 May 2014

The cafe is really good since the current owner took over. Good coffee and nice cakes. Nice, friendly staff. The seating area outside is nice and sunny since some of the trees were removed last year. Dogs are allowed in the cafe (but only on leads), which is great for dog-walkers when it's too cold and/or wet to sit outside. I live locally, and am involved with Friends of the Porter Valley, who are raising money to clear the silt from the millpond. Our volunteers work in the area, and have coffee here afterwards.

“Lovely end to a woodland walk”
Reviewed 8 May 2014

If you fancy an urban woodland walk, start at Hunters Bar roundabout, walk through beauttiful Endcliffe Park towards Nether Green, cross the road at the mini-roundabout at the bottom of Oakbrook Road, then go into Bingham Park and just carry on walking alongside the Porter Brook stream which takes you through leafy park and woodland, eventually bringing you to Forge Dam and the cafe, swings and ducks. A perfect family afternoon out.

“A beautiful place for a walk, then feed the ducks and have a nice cuppa”
Reviewed 12 November 2013

I love it here. I first went there out of intrigue, because a description of the cafe features in Pulp song 'Wickerman'. Judging by Jarvis's description, the cafe still hasn't changed much now!
It's a great place for dog walkers, the perfect place for a nice walk through the woods. The cafe sells duck bread, and there's a great collection of very happy ducks (and the odd outraged moorhen) who love to be fed on the lake. The cafe is brilliant - cheap and cheerful with a good range of snacks and drinks. Oh, and they sell Bradwell's Ice Cream which is THE BEST.
