Owner description: Millhouses Park is located approximately 3 miles south-west of Sheffield City Centre. Part of the park was gifted by Earl Fitzwilliam & Marquis of Zetland in 1909, with the remainder purchased by Sheffield City Council. Recent improvements include the Splash! project, located on the site of the old swimming pool and lido and reintroduces water play into the park, many years after the lido was closed and filled in. It is an interactive play area designed to be both playful and educational with kit such as an Archimedes screw, hand pumps and see saws that pump water into a large snaking channel, where it can be dammed in several places before being scooped by a water wheel and fed into a recycling tank. The water then feeds the toilets, can be used to water plants and tops up the boating lake. The Fishway project has seen the old paddling pools filled in and converted into natural habitat that will allow fish such as trout to bypass the two weirs on the River Sheaf and move upstream to spawn. The design is very complex and incorporates rock pools, overhangs and resting places and mimics their natural habitat as much as possible. Sheffield is so blessed with green spaces.

This park has everything- a cricket green, a stream, a playpark for children, tennis courts, a small boating lake, a rather smart cafe...

On the other side of the railway line to the park is an amazing wooded area set into the side of a hill. We walked through there and the bluebells were amazing.

We really are spoilt in Sheffield we have lovely parks that are very well maintained. This is a lovely park loads to do for the kids nice boating lake. Great little cafe serving good snacks and coffee. Children can really have a good time here very safe for them to play.

My partner and I stopped here for some lunch in the sun. It was busy and we managed to get a table in the sun. We both ordered a BLT one on granary and one of ciabatta, then one of us had chips and the other salad.
At £6.50 each I would expect a substantial meal however this was not to be. We got a handful of frozen chips on the plate and a soggy looking salad on the other. I had a milkshake and for £3 was not impressed. It cost us £15 for lunch and for the money we paid it just wasn’t worth it. Wouldn’t go back unfortunately.

It's a good park like many others with nothing outstanding to rave about but it still deserves a 5 ranking, as it's a pleasant place to spend your time, either as a couple or with family
