Lovely lovely place. Very much in the city but not that you would know. Gardens great, greenhouse interesting, features intriguing, experience fulfilling. A wonderful example of England's green and pleasant land. Recommended.

“A Sheffield gem”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 May 2014

An oasis of calm among the busy streets. Close to Ecclesall road. Rather small in comparison to gardens in some other cities but what is here is great. There is an excellent cafe. Gardens are always clean and very well kept. Extremely popular on sunny days and in the summer there are evening concerts.

“My favourite place”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 May 2014

My favourite place, a real gem of peace and quite between two busy roads. I love it here. Never tire of the Fountain and the hot house. Must have taken 1000s of photos here. I bring friends and meet my friends from Sheffield here. There is a lovely cafe for a snack and hot drinks or sit outside with an ice cream if the weather is sunny.
In winter it has great photo oppurtunities for making snowmen and if you are really brave to sit at an outside performance in the summer months. Bring a picnic and enjoy.

“Peaceful & relaxing place”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 May 2014

The gardens are colourful and on a good sunny day a great place to go and relax.
The greenhouses are full of different plants and a good place to start your visit.
If you visit on a sunny day be prepaired to have to walk as parking is limited near the entrance to the gardens.

“A place of tranquility”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 May 2014

The Botanical gardens is one of Sheffield's little known gem's that get's missed out by many a visitor to our fine city. If peace and tranquility is what you want, then a visit to the Botanical gardens is a must but don't just limit yourself to the glass houses. Go and explore the gardens and you will find hidden gems like the Chinese water garden. Or go and find the old bear pit ! That's right !!! A bear pit.. Thankfully the pit has not had an inhabitant since victorian times so you are free to go into the pit and see how the bear lived, there is even a natural cave in the pit that the bear slept in. I would advise NOT going into the cave as the kids use it as a TOILET ! :( That is the only downside to the park, the rest of it is thoughtfully planted and superbly maintained. If you are planning a trip to Sheffield, take the time to find the Botanical Gardens. Its well worth a visit.
