Great stay here. So close to Ponds Forge so great for swimmers. Asked for twin room on the front on top floor and got a great room with lovely wet room/shower room. Twin beds with plenty of space. Great wifi and lots of TV channels. Breakfast fine for a nervous swimmer but make sure you book the day before to get best rate. Corridor smelt a little odd and there were a few minor maintenance issues in the bedroom.
Generally very impressed and will certainly stay again .

Room Tip: Ask for the front if you want a view and as high as possible. 617 much larger than others.

When all your need is a comfy night sleep and a hop over to Ponds Forge then the place is fine but it needs redecorating in all the reception and hall areas to brighten the very drab interior. It is also worth checking the pricing as at first it looks a bargain but then breakfast is not included and the parking at the nearest Q car park is not cheap.Breakfast was £5.50 each if you booked in advance and really not even worth that amount. The breakfast are is located in the reception area and is a limited food selection squeezed onto the bar counter. Presentation points would be zero. Also found travelling with a lot of luggage was complicated as first had to navigate through the Q car park and then through the hotel. Nobody offered to help with luggage and there was no luggage trolley. Have stayed three times in the past but think it is Holiday Inn Express in future.

Thank you for your review and i'm sorry that you were disappointed by your overall experience at Ibis Sheffield City Centre. I am unable to say why the luggage trolley located in the entrance was unavailable unless it was in use by another guest at the time. Just to advise that the adjacent Q Park Car Park is £7.50 per 24 hour stay with the ibis discount voucher. I appreciate all feedback and rest assured that we take all comments very seriously.
Kind regards
Diane

We stayed there for a month July 2014. The staff were excellent, the rooms although basic were comfortable and clean. Sound proofing was excellent as we left the window open one night and was kept awake by the trams crossing the bridge. Location near perfect very close to the town centre, the bus exchange and the railway station. I would recommend it to any one wishing a clean comfortable stay for a budget price.

We booked the ‘Ibis’ in Sheffield about two months in advance because we were going to Tramlines Festival on the Saturday. It is situated in the City Centre and is within walking distance or you can get a cheap taxi onto Division Street for under a fiver.

It is an easy booking process online and they ring to confirm a couple of days before your stay. The hotel manager confirmed that the room would be available from 12pm on the Saturday.

We arrived a little after 12pm on the Saturday and greeted by a friendly young man on the reception desk and told that we had to wait for a room because none were available, I stated that when the manager had rang to confirm the booking a few days earlier that he had stated we could have the room from 12pm. He said that he would see what he could do. Then a horrible member of staff (lady receptionist) interrupted and said “You will just have to wait, we will find out who said that because they should have not said that under no circumstances!” I chose to ignore her. The room became available within 10 minutes and we were checked in.

The rooms are standard Ibis rooms and were clean, just what we needed as we only needed somewhere to place our heads at the end of the day. There is tea and coffee making facilities in the room and hairdryer.

We ordered food when we came back at 3am in the morning, the food is okay but not the best. On this occasion we did not have breakfast but noted they do a full English now.
A great place, if you just want to rest your head and not bothered about luxury, a basic room with no frills. The room cost £50 for one night, a reasonable and fair price. We would stay again, when going to Sheffield

Room Tip: We stayed in room 408. A great view from the room.

My team and I very much appreciate your review and delighted that you found our location to be ideal for your visit to the Tramlines event. I apologise that you did not receive our normal service at check in, we do try to accommodate an earlier check- in where possible. We do hope that we can welcome you back to ibis Sheffield City Centre in the future.

I stayed at the Ibis this week when travelling to Sheffield for a football match at Hillsborough, it was the low price of the room that gave me the idea of turning this day trip into an overnight stay. I stay at a fairly large number of hotels for short UK breaks and 'pound for pound' I rate this Ibis as one of the best I have stayed at for a while.

A twin room was priced at £45; excellent modern rooms with comfortable beds, good tea/ coffee facilities, TV with great quality picture and wide channel range, a small sofa area and desk at the window. The bathroom was fitted to a very good standard with large shower- it almost had the continental feel of a large 'wet room'.

Friendly reception staff, good quality breakfast (£5.50 booked the night before) and a convenient city centre location make this the ideal venue to use as a base for visiting Sheffield or surrounding area.
