Description: Welcome to one of the finest South Indian and Sri Lankan restaurants in Sheffield. Its been established originally under the name of Dhanistha's in 2010. Now its been taken over by new management and changed the name to Arusuvai (Taste Buds). We would like to continue giving authentic and original home cooking dishes from South India and Sri Lanka. Our food do not contain any artificially added colours or preservatives. All our ingredients are carefully selected by our experienced chefs from South India. All our dishes are cooked from scratch for order. So please be patient while we producing your dishes

My first impression was that the place was a bit disorganized. The waiter was a bit flustered so I picked up the menu myself. It took quite a while for the order to be taken and the bill to arrive. But the food did not take a long time to deliver. I ordered a fish biriyani which was quite delicious. Overall I believe they could do much better if they get the front of house in better shape. Will definitely be going back for the food.

Dear guest,

We wish to inform you that the former restaurant has been now changed to Arusuvai with a whole new management and a whole lot of new dishes added to the menu without hampering the South Indian/Srilankan authenticity. We hope you visit Arusuvai once. Thanks!

I have eaten in at Dhanisthas on one occasion and have recently been taking away regularly. In my opinion the food is delicious, I have tried king prawn dishes, a crab dish, aubergine and a mixed veg samba...all were delicious and the parathas suberb. Its quite small inside but the service is good and people nice. To eat in the price is reasonable for a restaurant, my only complaint is that the take away price is the same as an eat in restaurant price, I'm not sure that they have acknowledge the need for a much cheaper collection takeaway price (no table service etc). For this reason it makes it much more expensive than say your regular indian take away price, which is a shame. But if you can afford it...give it a try!

Visited Dhanistha's on my birthday for treat for me and my wife. Ordered Kottu and Dosa as our main course. The Dosa was not crunchy and not up to it. Kottu was made only with parota (the shredded rotti), chicken gravy, chopped onions and spices. However it should be with chopped tomatoes, leeks, juliennes of carrot, curry leaves, etc.
The waitress and waiter who served us wearing their own cloths, not an uniform and should not be acceptable in a licensed restaurant.
In conclusion, average Indian and Sri Lankan food served at Dhanista's.

Wife and I visited on a quiet Wednesday (one other table occupied). Contrary to others reviews we found the service to be excellent, polite, quick and efficient and took the time to explain the subtleties of South Indian and Sri-Lankan dishes.

The starters we had were very tasty (some of the deep-fried spicy donut things & mini dosa). The mains followed in the same vein and were deliciously rich in flavour and texture. Plentiful portions too.

I'd highly recommend this as an alternative to the more common Balti houses.
