Clean tidy room, just a note re the wash basin in the en suite was a little small for bigger hands. I stopped in room 2 which overlooks the main road and the tramway which proved very noisy with the last tram running at 11.45. I didn't check when the first tram started in the morning but it was early. The beer was very good, I tried four of the house beers, but none were really suitable to my palette. The evening bar staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast was good, a full English of fried egg, bacon, sausage and beans with tea and toast. Would I stay again, no the noise of the trams put me right off, shame really as its beyond their control.

Room Tip: Opt for rooms at the rear, 5 & 6 should be quieter.

Perfect location for a weekend in Sheffield. On the edge of the city but well served by trams and buses. The hotel is also a pub with excellent food and good beer brewed on the premises. The staff are warm and friendly and the rooms are clean and comfortable. The real bonus is a freshly cooked to order breakfast which is delicious, hardly any hotels do that now. The pub also has a conservatory and terrace which looks over the city and some countryside. All in all I would recommend the Hillsborough Hotel.

Booked this hotel 30 min before we headed off to Sheffield so didn't really know what to expect. Had a bit of trouble finding it due to one way streets but were pleasantly surprised. Staff very friendly and room spotless. Breakfast was good. Only complaint as mention by another reviewer was the trams which sounded like they were coming through our room but that is not a fault that the hotel can sort

Room Tip: ask for a room at the back if possible

We stayed here for the night whilst attending the Sheffield Fake Fest.

The pub was light, airy and welcoming ... with a lovely conservatory extension at the back. The patrons were friendly. The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful, especially Ann, the young man behind the bar and the blonde young woman that cooked breakfast.

The breakfast was basic but enjoyable nonetheless: egg, sausage, bacon (very salty), half a large tomato, baked beans and toast (we were not given a choice of brown/white). There was tea, coffee or orange juice. There was a choice of three cereals.

The bedroom (no 6) was small but clean and comfy with double bed, chair, wardrobe and desk. A small tv was fastened to the wall with good reception. Tea/coffee making facilities.
The bathroom was huge and had an over-bath shower. The bath had seen better days ... it's been refinished and some of the paint was peeling off but again it was very clean.

We stayed the 22nd of June and the heating was on a low temp, keeping the room nice & cosily warm.

The tram stop is very near and the trams can be noisy but it wasn't any more so than staying on any other main road. The tram service was frequent.

We would definitely use this B&B again if we needed to stay in the area.

We found the Hillsborough welcoming, friendly and clean. Accommodation is basic but well kept and very good value, with a fantastic cooked breakfast thrown in. Easily accessible by tram from the station and town centre - if you're a very light sleeper ask for a room at the back as trams start about 6am. The pub was generally fairly quiet, but a haven for real ale lovers, with a sunny terrace at the back and a brewery in the cellar! Good selection of pub grub, and lots of other good hostelries in walking distance. If you want posh or flashy, go somewhere else, but we loved it here and will be back again.

It was freezing cold, snowing outside and the heating was bust. Despite a promise of a return phone call it has never happened. Slept in clothes, too cold to shower, only heat an electric kettle! We had three rooms, no heat in any of them! Despite many requests staff could do nothing, no extra blankets or electric heaters except one small one, leaving two rooms freezing.
