We have visited the Acorn very frequently over the years and it has recently been taken over by a new bewery / managers. During one meal recently we picked up a news letter which was adveretising a "family fun day" on Bank Holiday Monday. It cliamed to be having BBQ, cake sale, face painting etc all in aid of Macmillian . (we had only seen it advertised about a week before the date). We immediately contacted several friends with young children and at lunch time we all gathered outside The Acorn, 17 of us all together and made our way in. You can therefore imagine my embarassment when there was absolutely nothing happening, in fact I have never seen the place so empty. I spoke to a member of staff who said "oh yeah think something was suppose to be happening but its not now" I explained that I had organised quite a lot of people based on their promotion of the day and we now had a lot of disappointed children expecting bouncy castles and face painting. Again he simply said "well its not happening". We decided to go to another local pub with a big outdoor space and had a good day but I will now think twice before visiting The Acorn again, very poor organisation and management.
