“Very embarassing”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 May 2013

We have visited the Acorn very frequently over the years and it has recently been taken over by a new bewery / managers. During one meal recently we picked up a news letter which was adveretising a "family fun day" on Bank Holiday Monday. It cliamed to be having BBQ, cake sale, face painting etc all in aid of Macmillian . (we had only seen it advertised about a week before the date). We immediately contacted several friends with young children and at lunch time we all gathered outside The Acorn, 17 of us all together and made our way in. You can therefore imagine my embarassment when there was absolutely nothing happening, in fact I have never seen the place so empty. I spoke to a member of staff who said "oh yeah think something was suppose to be happening but its not now" I explained that I had organised quite a lot of people based on their promotion of the day and we now had a lot of disappointed children expecting bouncy castles and face painting. Again he simply said "well its not happening". We decided to go to another local pub with a big outdoor space and had a good day but I will now think twice before visiting The Acorn again, very poor organisation and management.

“Great food”

Lovely old pub dating back 1858 with great food served and excellent customer service. Check out their specials board. Look out for their curry and pint deals.

Went her for a family meal.
Good atmosphere, friendly service and good food.
Booked a table as this is obviously very popular.

“Gone downhill”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 April 2013 via mobile

The Acorn has changed hands, I'm not sure who is in charge now but everything about the place runs a poor second to the last people Nigel and Elain
The atmosphere and banter no longer exists, it seems to be a " buisness deal" only now
Greenling have only themselves to blame, the staff left over from Nigel and Elain are as good as ever, the drop in standards is nothing to do with them
Over all I find it poor
It's buisness before pleasure now at the Acorn
