For starters we went for the Tamarind wings (which were really nice as i've only just dscovered tamarind in my own cooking) and Gol Guppa which were a bit like spherical poppadoms which you filled with chickpeas and a choice of 4 dips, all of which were nice but they could have been a bit crispier but the food was very tasty and you could taste the freshness of the spices. For main, we both went for a sizzler (lamb and king prawn). The lamb was plentiful but didn't really have much spice, the prawn had more flavour. both were served with dips, masala chips and naan bread, all of which was good. So, it IS different and I would recommend it for this reason. I feel it could still be improved based on the food we tasted but it was good enough for me to want to try again. Cool place.

“The best”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 June 2014

This is currently one of my favourite eateries. The atmosphere although set in quite basic surroundings is always relaxing.
I would recommend the Thali to anyone and you really don't need a starter as the Thali is quite a generous meal consisting of a curry dish, bread and poppadoms and various small bowls of interesting accompliments.
The byo option is always a winner and combined with the value for money food it is a cheap and enjoyable experience.
If your planning to go on a Friday or Saturday make sure you book. My favourite game whilst eating is watching people being turned away as they are fully booked. Cruel, but fun.

“Disappointed”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 May 2014

We have eaten here quite a few times and have always enjoyed it until this evening. Both our starters were much smaller than previously and not terribly nice. We had a 45 min wait then for our mains which were an even bigger disappointment. My lamb curry (5 pieces of meat floating in a sea of sauce) was of a poor standard. The waiter kept trying to bring us things we hadn't ordered and didn't seem to have a clue what was going on. Very disappointing evening, with diminshed portions of food and quality.

“the unexpected”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 May 2014

there was five of us went in not really knowing what we were going to find. we had to wait a while for our food but it was cooked to order so was worth waiting for. everyone ordered different, everyone enjoyed what they ordered, the chips were something else, really nice would go back & not expensive, £42.30 for us all & we were all full when we left.

“Great food. Yum.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 May 2014 via mobile

I had the gol guppa for starter. This place never fails to surprise with interesting tastes textures and shapes of food and these were the best yet!. The 'crushed samosas ' were another taste and texture phenomenon. Main course of vegetables thali done up in a vegan style was a really nice balance of tasty fragrant fresh bits and bobs. With a can of mango rubicon, a great quick cheap meal. We'll be back.
