had an afternoon visit to the lovely our cow molly farm. the ice cream is amazing, and great choice of flavour and great value.
had a sneakily look at the new born calfs too, so cute.

the only thing is from what i could gather, apart from the shop and the baby calfs, theres not much else to do. a little picnic area and small playground for kids but thats it. i would have liked to have had a walk around the farm. so great for a trip out for a an ice cream but not a day trip

It was a bit hard to find her, but after a long ride round the hills, we tracked her down. (There's a shorter way - via Stannington - but the long way was a lot of fun.

Easily missed; not much in the way of signs till you are there, but it's a small working farm with a mixture of dairy and beef cattle and, when we were there, some lovely small calves to meet up close. (Molly is one of eighty something cattle at the farm.)

The little shop is a converted shed that you reach down a narrow driveway (there is parking in a field at busy times.) A scattering of tables outside, in a covered walkway, and a couple of tables inside. That's it. Apart from a fridge full of locally-sourced mince and venison, and less-local haggis; a freezer of ice cream tubs and...... the counter with the array of colorful ice-cream to be scooped. I had a scoop of Ferrero Rocher in a waffle cone. Yum yum. Also bought a tub of honeycomb to take to my host. That's honeycomb as in bits of Crunchie-type sweet in vanilla ice cream, not as in bees.

Among the best ice cream I have tasted and one of the most rustic settings. I hope it never gets spoilt by progress. Don't miss it.

In this little farm shop tucked at the back of beyond is an ice cream counter offering the most delicious ice cream I have ever tasted, it beats any I have ever had in Italy. We travelled from Worksop just to have a fix. It has a wonderful natural creamy taste and there is no chemical after taste that you get with some other products. I had Bakewell tart flavour. The little pieces of pastry in it just seemed to taste like the pastry my Mama made of years ago, yummy. Perfect ice cream with stunning views. Can't wait to go back.

It's very clear from when you first arrive that this place is a work in progress. The shop itself has the best range of Our Cow Molly ice creams (which are absolutely delicious) available, and also has a few bits of local produce like honey, bacon, sausages and milk. The staff in the shop were very friendly and knowlegeable about what they had for sale.
We had mainly come for the ice cream, but having been frequently updated on facebook about the baby animals they have on the farm we were a bit disappointed to only be able to find two rabbits. Perhaps the other animals were out in the fields that day?
There's a lovely park for children to play in- we weren't expecting that and it was a nice surprise. The only toilet was a (pretty hideous) portaloo, I don't know whether a new toilet is part of the farm's ongoing work, but it would be a welcome addition!
Overall, at the moment I would recommend this little farm for the ice cream, it was well worth the trip from Sheffield on a sunny spring day. I'm reserving judgement on the rest- we'll definitely return in a few months to see what the improvements have done to the rest of the experience.

Hi LibsDibs,
Regarding the toilet its not ideal we know, we have a contract with Elliot Loo hire to come every week & they let us down, we originally let customers use our toilet in our home but it used to be left in a terrible state by some which was a real shame so we had to resort to a porter loo, we are currently in the process of building a new toilet as you saw with the work in progress, we are determined to keep it free to visit our farm & free parking too, but this means improvements are slow.

As you enter the farm yard you walk past the newborn animal building & as you walk out the ice cream parlour you can see the sign which says newborn calves & lambs you have to walk past the building to exit the yard.
There are always newborn calves in there as they are born all year round, the newborn lambs will be out in the field in the daytime, as you exit the farm yard entrance on to the lane & car park they would have been all in the field in front of you running up & down the huge mounds of soil.

We went to Cannon hall farm the other day & they keep their animals in so folk can see them in pens, its far better for the animal welfare to keep the animals in the fields, I know this makes seeing them slightly less convenient for our customers but we feel animal welfare must come first.

We are the last dairy farm left now in the whole of Sheffield bottling its own milk, we want lots of people to come & see where milk comes from, I hope Eliot Loo not turning up on this occurrence wont put folk off visiting what is now the only bottling dairy farm left in the city.

Eddie and Madeleine have set up a business that involves putting a pink themed ice cream on the family farm, using pure cream for making ice cream with Italian gelato technology. They have amazing flavours, the best ice cream ever, and farm produce in the shop as well as new calves, lambs and so on in season. All of this, and the most amazing views. What's not to love?
