We recently attended a family wedding here but unfortunately we weren't able to stay for the night. However, I did manage to have a look at the guest rooms, which, indeed were lovely.
The professionalism of the entire team who work there was excellent too. Also, the grounds were impeccable. All in all, this is an excellent location for any type of wedding.
Obviously, the wise saying of 'you get what you pay for' has to be taken into consideration too. If you want first class sevice (at a high price) then this is the place for you!
However, drink prices were extortianate , even though all items purchased were professionaly served. I am well aware of costs and profits as I have worked in the licensed trade for many years and found this venue sadly let down by its high bar prices.
On another note, I do suggest that 'regular' guests of the hotel should check if there are to be any weddings being held at Whitley Hall before they book a stay there, as if you don't want ''rowdy wedding guests'' then this surely isn't the place to be for a romantic break? After all, the bridal/groom party have also paid a 'tidy sum' for a beautiful wedding!
As the public areas aren't that big at this venue you are bound to get some crossovers of wedding and regular guests, which is something to be aware of also.
To summarise, if you are not involved with a wedding party being held here, where guests are having fun, enjoying themselves and are happy and merry, then don't stay on the same day....go another time!

Room Tip: All rooms seen were lovely!

Thank you for all your kind comments relating to your recent visit to the hotel. I am genuinely pleased that you and your party enjoyed your time spent with us.

We do appreciate that people visit the hotel for different reasons and occasions and our staff work extremely hard to ensure that both our private residents and guests attending functions at the hotel have their own areas to enjoy and these are kept entirely separate to each other.
With this in mind we are currently in the process of building an additional terraced area onto our function room which we expect will be finished early October. This will help to ensure that whatever the purpose of a visit to us your time spent with us will be an enjoyable experience.

We do hope that you have the opportunity to visit the hotel again in the future and if indeed you do and require any assistance please do not hesitate to contact a member of the team at the hotel who will be more than happy to assist you.

Was a guest at a wedding at the Whitley hall, was also luck enough to be able to stay at the hotel after the wedding.

The room was amazing, massive double bed, large amount of space, wifi access etc. The bathroom was also very nice, clean and contemporary.

The wedding actually fell on one of the rare sunny days this year so we were able to go out and enjoy the grounds, which include a lake, large grassed area and even peacocks roaming about.

Breakfast was lovely and so we're the staff working at the wedding. All round top venue.

I was invited to a friend's wedding a while back and Googled the location - as one does! Never having heard of Whitley Hall near Sheffield, I was curious as to where I was going. The website images suggested a beautiful old house, standing in gorgeous grounds. I was not disappointed last Sunday when the wedding day came to pass.

Whitley Hall can accommodate two events at the same time: one in the main Hall area (which is then out of bounds to others - but simply stunning), and one in the smaller room, the Parker Suite (still in the old building but adjacent to the new bedroom block).

The old Hall is truly wonderful and opens onto a lovely garden. However, the lesser room, so to speak, is very nice: a combination of oak panelling and original stone wall give it a cosy and intimate atmosphere, suitable for a small to medium wedding - 50-60 people. It opens onto a very attractive terrace which overlooks a small lake (with a jetty for stunning photo opportunities). There are chairs and tables, two enormous umbrellas with patio heaters - and on a slightly chill August day and evening, these were essential!

I really could fault little with the location - the only quibble is (as is often the case with such hotels) the bar prices are unbelievably extortionate!!

The staff were excellent - young men and women, all well trained in all aspects of event management. The food was excellent - wedding breakfast was all silver service - and the evening buffet was superb. Everything ran like clockwork. Very much a place to be recommended.

We attended a wedding in the parker suite saturday the 25th of august,
And first can i just say the building is amazing and even though we was in the new side of the hotel everything ties together perfectly, now ive been to a few weddings this year and the meal we had at whitley tops all the rest else where, it didnt taste like any mass produced rubbish just to keep the wedding guest happy, it was delicious and the service the resturant girls did was wonderful, nothing was to much trouble.
Right for the main reason im writing this review, is that this weekend sheffield experienced some flash floodsand unfortunetly whitley hall fell victim to this quit badly and water was everywhere, but where other places might shut down and ignore the guests, they did not, instead all the bar staff ran outside to get sand bags and divert the water whilst a waitress jumped on the bar to keep guests happy, now for all the staff to pull together and deal with a problem like that, that could have ruined the entire day, with no planning is amazing and hats off to all off you, after the water was more of less delt with, danny d, one of the bar lads handed out dry shirts to the other staff and service carried on as usual to a high standerd for the rest of the night, and i'd just like to say a special thanks to danny d, jak and tom as they all ran around getting soaking wet though and at the same time made sure we was all ok.

Dear Happy Guy 65,
Many thanks for your wonderful review which we are all thrilled to receive.
The weather that day was in the words of our helpful local farmer, the worst he'd ever seen.
We are at the moment installing some extra drainage which will cope with the enormous amount of surface water generated on Saturday should such freakish weather conditions ever happen again and hopefully to prevent the staff and management getting another soaking.
I am delighted to hear your comments about the 'team effort', something which we see as vital to making Whitley Hall Hotel the positive experience we want it to be for all who visit us.

Kind Regards

Our daughter and new son in law held their wedding at whitley hall, beautiful hotel, beautiful location, the welcome and service we had from all members of staff was very friendly and just perfect. A special mention to marie for making it a special day and everything ran smoothly, also we would like to mention tom who we found nothing was too much trouble for him ( this young man will go very far ), the food was served piping hot and plentiful and very tasty - compliments to the chef for all his hard work. The sun stayed out for us all day so we could use the gorgeous garden, all in all a perfect day in a perfect place served by perfect staff, could not fault whitley hall at all and they made it a lovely day to remember thank you.
