This was a gift from a member of the family. Free entry to the Spa and Pool facility within the Hotel complex. Sadly for the best part of the time I was there only two from the four spa thermal rooms were working. Eventually the Steam room became operational but the Aromatherapy room stayed out of action.
The pool facility was very pleasant as was the Ice House. Robes and slippers were not part of our package and were not offered. If they would have been we would have purchased them. I would recommend using both as it is more comfortable when moving about the spa. Just the use of a towel is not sufficient.
I would go again but I am not sure if would pay the going rate?

Attended a Rush concert at the Motorpoint Arena Sheffield so in order to not upset my fiance (as this was second time seeing the band in 4 days) I decided to book a nice spa hotel for my lovely lady. The Mercure had very good ratings so gave it a go. Overall it was a pleasant experience firstly we had no real problems finding it as St Pauls is pretty well sign posted (brown signs with Bed on!!)not like some other reviewers. The hotel first impression was of clean & modern hotel and it was. Reception staff were friendly and gave relevant information to us. We were offered porter for luggage, and took advantage of the valet parking despite the £23 a day charge! The car is parked in a secure service area below the hotel. Car was taken and returned promptly on request. Room 521 was spacious clean and as a Privilege Room we had the extras that come with that, daily paper, nice toiletries, nespresso machine, free gift of nail polish and a make up bag, good view of the Peace Garden, robes and slippers soft drinks package in minibar etc. Room was cleaned and made up efficiently on both days we stayed, only niggle is had to request breakfast tea as only earl gray on the room tray & the towel rail did not heat up mentioned this twice to reception but no repair made. Also another small niggle was a request for ice and 2 champagne glasses for the room for my lady on the night I attended the concert this was ignored (dissapointing). Breakfast on both days was fine (hot and cold buffet). The local tram system was very good and the hotel is in an excellent location for using public transport to get around. There are several restraunts around the hotel (Cafe Rouge-Pizza Express a Pub food place and Costa & Cafe Nero) The hotel has its own bar and restraunt we did not use these but we did take advantage of the champagne bar very nice cocktails. The Spa has good facilities pool, sauna, steam room, the aroma room was not functioning during our visit. My lady had a couple of Spa treatments and was very impressed by the profesionalism of Emma & Emily the girls who performed the massage and facial she had, the treatment rooms were lovely. Overall we had a nice relaxing break Sheffield has character and we enjoyed looking around the place.

I stayed at the Mercure for business. The room and the lobby are very modern and new feeling. The room itself was a decent size, with a comfortable bed and shower. The hotel itself is very central, with easy access to a number of good restaurants and venues nearby. It is also a reasonably straightforward walk from the train station. I did not use any of the hotel facilities, though what I did see they looked very nice.

Room Tip: You might want to ask for a room on a higher floor to avoid being blocked by the Atrium.

the service from the bell boy in charge of suitcases was poor
we had to wait for him to finish what we understood was a personal call after we arrived with our taxi
we had to wait for our suitcase to be delivered to our room after we had dinner

Initially the hotel was hard to get to, even though we could see it, we couldn't quite get Satnav to take us there!
The staff were very helpful when we checked in, the room was light and airy with a lovely bathroom and views over the Peace Gardens. The hotel is very central for shops, restaurants and pubs. The breakfast was good value if you took advantage of the pre booking service and discount the night before. Breakfast truly was huge and as much as you could eat.
The weather was good, we were going to a wedding otherwise we may have been able to go sightseeing in the Dales, to Bakewell, Hathersage or maybe Chatsworth...oh well next time maybe?

The good:
Hotel staff was very friendly and helpful
Single bed room had nice, modern decor with lots of open space
Queen bed was comfortable
Nice desk
Great wireless internet
Bathroom was very nice
Excellent shower

The bad:
Carpet in the room was terrible...it was bubbled up all over the room.
The air conditioner struggled to keep the room even mildly cool
The TV had very limited programming and the HDMI ports were locked out
The mini fridge didn't work
Windows only had curtains, so once the curtains were opened to let in light, there was no privacy
