Good size swimming pool with spa and gym. Nice sauna, steam room, aroma room, ice room, experience shower. Pay £1 for towel - should be free towels. No plastic cups for drinking water. Good size, clean changing rooms. Could do with a coin operated cold drinks machine in sauna area or
poolside.

Stayed for 2 nights on a mini-break without the kids. Stayed in a Junior Suite (433), which while it didn't have the absolute best views that the hotel has to offer, still had a great panoramic view of much of the city. The living area of the suite was excellent and we spent a fair bit of time relaxing here.

Bed was very comfortable and room/bathroom were both very clean. Public areas of the hotel are modern and spacious.

Staff were great - receptionists were all very friendly & helpful and restaurant staff were great too. Ambience in the restaurant is nice, especially if you can get a table along the edge where the "greenhouse" is.

Food and service in the restaurant were both very good - we had a dinner inclusive package which was great value, however next time we stay, we will probably venture into town for variety.

Spa facilities and staff were also good - massage (part of our package) was lovely and the pool area is very relaxing. If I was to offer ideas for possible improvement, it would be to add a jacuzzi - even if that was just a corner of the main pool (which was slightly cool). The thermal suite is excellent, it's just missing that jacuzzi to finish it off.

All in all, we had a great stay here, made even better by the great staff. I'm sure we'll be back sometime soon.

Room Tip: If you can catch Junior Suite on a special offer, go for that

After staying at the Excellent Mercure George Washington up in the North East I had high hopes for this stay.

First impressions are mixed. The place is striking and central but there is no parking other than an agreement for a reduced overnight fee at the NCP by the Crucible. Valet parking is available and I was surprised that people actually took it at the fee they were after.

On leaving such a striking reception and ground floor the rest of the hotel is surprisingly conventional, the corridors etc could be anywhere. This neither a good or bad thing.

The first room I had was on first glance impressive and after a wash I flopped onto the bed to relax and watch some television before spa and diner. I was surprised to find that my hand started itching and I stood up and checked the bed. It was hardly clean, the sheets dirty and the underside of the pillow largely covered with blood. Not what I was expected.

I called the reception an a gentleman came inspected the room, confirmed that it was unacceptable and I was offered a remade bed or a new room. I took the later.

The new room was larger and cleaner but was adjoining the stairwell so I could hear noise some of the night.

Diner was acceptable but over priced. Breakfast was the best bit.

Room Tip: one without the dirt, blood and insects or the stairs

Great City centre hotel. Im not sure what parking is like , but its a good well equiped hotel with a friendly staff. there are some good views of the the centre of Sheffield. Breakfast was very good and the view into the attached atrium is very impressive. Good alround

Room Tip: There was some noise from shop alarms but i think I was unlucky. generally all seem good
