unfortunately I think this hotel is close to all sporting and leisure events in Sheffield which is quite convenient except it means it is also convenient for those attending such events and these people were very drunk and very noisy all night we stayed 3 nights and this was the case every night ,the positive is the cost the rooms are basic but clean the staff were fine and the phrase you get what you pay for applies.

I booked to stay at the Etap, Sheffield Arena well in advance and the rate given was £36 room only per night. Having stayed there before, I knew there were no frills and went prepared with toiletries, kettle and coffee. On arrival we were advised that, since booking, the rates had changed, we were extremely surprised to find that the rate was now only £25 per room., which will sleep three very good friends or two adults and a child. We were offered rooms on the fourth floor, as long as we could put up with the smell of paint as they had all just been renovated, or we could have a non renovated room if we preferred. We opted for the fourth floor and it was fine. The only downside is that they charge disabled travellers for parking, which I think is perhaps a little unfair, as those less mobile cannot really manage without their transport and do need to be able to park reasonably close. That aside it was still a bargain and a very enjoyable stay. We will definitely go again.

We had very low expectations of this hotel we were presently surprised when we first saw the room. Although it was very basic it was clean and fit for purpose! All was good until we sat on the bed!
It was literally rock hard. I had the worst nights sleep ever. I would suggest you take extra pillows and quilts to cover the mattress.

If they do not improve the bed quality I am unlikely to ever stay in an etap again .

what can you expect for £19 per night. This included breakfast for two, as much coffee as you needed, toast , croisants cereal

the staff were lovely really helpful.
the rooms reminded me of staying in a caravan, very basic, the family room had single bunk above double bed, clean white sheets and tv to watch. shower room tiny, wc a closet but it was in your room so no sharing. great black out blinds slept well

very good value for money, very basic room, but the kids love the bunk beds, only paid £18 for each night, excellant value, that even included the continental breakfast, so cant complain, room very clean, only downside very poor reception on tv, the bed mattress is far to hard, you cant relex at all on them, plus when we arrived in room we only had a quarter of toillet paper in the room hardly enough for three people, even with all that downside the hotel is highly recommended, excellant staff very pollite, thanks

Me and 7 friends wanted a cheap hotel, close enough to the night life and that was also group friendly. Basically all we were after was somewhere to get ready and then crash after a night out round the town. After much searching we discovered Etap, having already experienced the Leeds hotel, we pretty much knew what to expect.

On first arrivals the hotel looked small and friendly after paying £3 for over night parking we were greeted with smiles from the friendly reception staff. Checking in was quick and simple and we were allocated our rooms each with a key card, you do need this card to be able to have access to the lift, something I have never had to do before but I suppose it helps on security purposes.

As we arrived in our room there wasn’t much to it just the same standard etap layout consisting of a double bed, with a single bunk above, small sink with a average mirror next to a shower which is bizarre as it basically right next to the bed not giving the person showering much privacy, the toilet it is a separate little room which is a little Closter phobic but fine. There is also a small LCD television with all the basic TV channels on.

The room was clean and tidy, however as we were on a night out we were shocked to see the lack of cups in the room, however reception noted that we were able to borrow some mugs from the breakfast area down stairs. Also please take your own towels as only hand towels are supplied and an extension lead would be a plus if you require to run several electrical things at once as there is only one plug!

When you go down into the reception area they will gladly ring you a taxi to take you to your chosen destination for us it was around a 5-7min taxi journey to Division Street which cost no more than £6 splitting this between 4 people made it even cheaper!

Returning back to the hotel late at night there was a security man on the door which made us feel safer!

All in all if all you are after is a bed for the evening I would recommend this place, you can’t complain at £36 for a room for three people!

We stayed at this hotel on Saturday 19th June for one night. We were going to a club nearby so this location was excellent. It is also right next to the arena should you be going to an event there.

The hotel cost £36 for the night with £3 car parking and £3.25 each for breakfast.

We arrived at about 7pm and got a car parking space with no issues. Checked straight in and went to our room on the ground floor. Yes the room is not massive but it was spotlessly clean and well maintained. The shower was brilliant, plenty of room in there with good water pressure and temperature. The towels were bath towel size and perfectly adequate. The shower does open straight into the room but this was not an issue with us being a couple. There was a small flat screen tv in the room also.

The bed was hard however, we had a great nights sleep on it and it was not uncomfortable at all.

We had booked the breakfast and there was hot drinks, orange juice, toast, bread rolls, croissants, jam, cheese, fruit etc. For the money it was definately worth paying for.

There were also well stocked fridges with beer / soft drinks and snacks available in the reception area. We did not use these so can't comment on the price although would be handy if you wanted a couple of drinks before you went out.

Would we go back? Yes without a doubt. This is not a 5 start hotel but for the price it exceeded our expectations.
