“My Other Home”

I have had the pleasure of staying with Penny and Neville for an average three nights per week through March-June this year while working in Sheffield. They have made me extremely welcome and nothing is ever too much trouble. The rooms are beautiful and always spotless and the food exellent. The Rivelin Valley is a stones throw away and is not to be overshadowed by the Peak District on the doorstep.
As my work in Sheffield draws to a close I will be sad to leave a B&B that has made an extended period of working away like being on holiday! Thanks to both Penny and Neville and Quarry House ............ I will be back!

It seems difficult to find anything new after the praise of so many other guests. But if anyone should ask you why so many people prefer B&B over hotels, just send them to the Quarry House and they will know exactly why. This is truely a home away from home. And the breakfast beats anything we had in places ten times the size.

Just to confirm all the praise in the other reviews is still well justified. I'll be going back whenever I'm in Sheffield.

When I arrived, I was greeted in my room with a pot of tea and a plate od sandwiches. Nothing seemed too much trouble for Penny and Neville who were the ideal hosts, both attentive but not intrisive.. the room was above all peace ful and the setting idilic. I wouls have no hessitation of recomending anyone to this , the best of geust houses.

Don't be put off by the drive up from the main road, particularly if you arrive, as we did, on a wet and windy Wednesday evening in March. Quarry House is, as the name suggests, in an old stone quarry but the house itself, built by Neville, is a delightfully charming residence run by Penny, whose welcome and hospitality simply could not be bettered. Not only did we have excellent breakfasts, but on two evenings, when we were too tired to go out for a meal, Penny prepared a delicious light supper for us, something not usually available in B & B establishments. Our ground floor was extremely comfortable and well-equipped. The decorations throughout are stylish and captivating. The setting in the quarry is quite remarkable and it was truly a delight to listen to Neville's cheerful and entertaining accounts of his experiences as a stonemason in Sheffield. Look out for the dogs (no, not the four legged variety, but hooks used to lift stone blocks) carved in stone on the gable wall of the house. If you are visiting Sheffield and need tranquil, comfortable and relaxing accommodation, away from the bustle of city life but within 30 minutes of the city centre by Sheffield's excellent tram service and the same again by car to the Derbyshire Peak District, then Quarry House is the perfect destination.

I'd like to start this review by saying that, in my 27 years, this has to be the best B&B I have stayed in! The room was wonderful, light spacious, tastefully decorated and filled with wonderful little touches. The Port, Single malt & Brandy were a fantastic touch. The breakfast was excellent and we only had a small problem which was dealt with professionally, swiftly and with no fuss. The owners were charming, and happy to help. I was only disappointed we could not have spent more time in our room due to other engagements!

Lovely people running an excellent hotel in a great spot.
Very well designed rooms, comfortable beds, great bathrooms, thick towels, lots of good reading matter and deeply peaceful surroundings.
Breakfast was a feast of anything from traditional english breakfast, but with good ingredients and properly cooked [real mushrooms - not watery pale things, real tomatoes -not skinned and tinned, nicely scrambled eggs] to very healthy continental with lots of fresh fruit and variety.
My daughter came with our grandson - a cot was provided already complete with toys.
We were recommended to try a local restaurant, the Artisan and Catch in Crosspool which was excellent and welcoming to small children too.
All in all, as my daughter said: We arrived tired and left happy and rested!
A real find!
