Booked and got a very reasonable rate for a double ensuite. When we arrived early evening, restaurant was full of diners taking advantage of the early doors food offer, a good sign. Our room was lovely, big comfy bed, plenty of space, view over the valley (and car park) and a proper bathroom with bath. Everything worked, no complaints there.
Would have been nice to sit in the garden but it rained all the time!
We ate in the bar, bar service was good, good range of beers and wines. My crayfish lime salad was very nice. Unfortunately my wife ordered haddock and was put out to be served a tiny half fillet which had clearly been over cooked (thick, dark brown batter hardened like cement) or more probably, cooked once earlier and then deep fried again. For £10 we thought a whole fillet would have been the norm, and the chips were soggy. In short poorer quality than you'd get from a £4.99 chain pub menu. So we sent it back, and the waitress apologised, but then served up pretty much the same thing, probably the other half of the cooked fillet which had been refried.
That went back too and my wife chose a risotto which was fine, but by that time I had finished my meal and we really should have been offered some recompense. Next morning we didn't bother with the breakfast (£8 each or £5 for tea and toast!) but found a cafe on our way which did a full english for £5.
Good hotel let down by inconsistent catering on this occason.

Good-sized, quality room in excellent location for exploring the Derbyshire Moors. Very quiet. Breakfast and evening meal first-rate. Very good service. Excellent value for money. Recommend highly.

We needed to stay a couple of nights around Sheffield and found the Norfolk Arms to be great value. Friendly helpful staff and good clean and tidy rooms. Without doubt would use again, always use tripadvisor and take note of reviews and the good reviews about this place are justified.

Couldn't wish for friendlier and more caring staff - they were lovely. The room was clean and one of the nicest that we have ever stayed in. Wonderful views over the immediate hills, Sheffield and far beyond. The food was what we would refer to as excellent pub grub and very reasonably priced - no wonder that it was very busy with local customers. In spite of being busy there was absolutely no noise to be heard in our room even though we were immediately above the bar. The hotel is well placed for exploring eastern Derbyshire. We will definatley be returning!

Further to the recommendations of tripadvisor reviewers, we stayed here for one night as we had to be in Sheffield. What a little gem of a place. Lovely sized room, with good comfortable beds and very clean bathroom. The breakfast was really tasty - I had some lovely poached eggs on toast. The pub itself was busy with a great mix of people, but the pub food (evening) was very "chain pub" like - ok for something basic but not more than that, which was disappointing. The staff were very friendly and hard working. I would definitely go there again.

Room Tip: Ring ahead of time - they were all very helpful.

I stay at the Norfolk Arms whenever I am in Sheffield; in fact I have stayed so many times now it feels like home!

The food is good, the rooms are great - and always very clean.

All of the staff are very friendly and helpful.

I've only once had any problems with noise - and that was the fault of other inconsiderate guests. Nonetheless when I mentioned it when checking out, I received a big apology and a discount. You just can't get any better than that. Thank you.

Exceptionally good service and always with a smile.

Keep up the good work the fabulous Norfolk Arms team.

After reading the reviews we decided to stay at theNorfolk Arms Hotel whilst visiting our daughter .
We were not disappointed and agree with all the other reviews .
The hotel was very comfortable , clean , offered good food of an evening , a plentiful breakfast cooked fresh to order and well run by enthuisiastic helpful staff .
We enjoyed visiting the peaks and managed to fit a full two days in - the Longshaw estate , Ladybower reservoir and Castleton .
We would definately recommend this hotel and will visit again in the future .
Thanks .
