We arranged to meet friends at the Hotel for lunch today, as we had previously enjoyed bar meals there recently. The experience today, however, was not memorable from the quality of food point of view, it was very poor I am afraid.
We all had steak pie on my recommendation (previous experience was good) but after waiting over1 hour, the result was awful.
The pie was freshly cooked, which probably explained the waiting, but the chief must have run out of filling, because two of the pies had no more than three small pieces of meat in each, and the other two feared little better. The vegetables which accompanied the meals were only just warm.
Having pointed this out to the manager, we were offed a replacement pie! The meal was already ruined by now so further food was refused. No compensation nor explanation was offered as to why the gravy in the pies was totally different from the contents. Poor display all round.

The Norfolk Arms near Sheffield is a lovely hotel. Rooms were clean, beds comfy and bathroom modern fittings. The staff were friendly and couldn't do enough for us. They even put our ice blocks in their freezer to be frozen ready for an outdoor wedding we were going to on Saturday. The food was really nice, especially the full English breakfast and the Pig (pork sandwich) and a beer. We would recommend this Hotel to anyone.

Room Tip: We took up four rooms and they were all excellent

Great pub in a superb location overlooking the Peak District. Managed to pick the "quiz night" and arrived after 9pm so no food available. Very full, but nice atmosphere. Very peaceful nights sleep. Overlooking fields and hills (and Alpackers). Good beers and friendly staff

Stayed 2 nights with family over from Australia, Hotel was welcoming by owner and staff, lovely rooms, 1st night we had meal, with it been fathers day, we asked if we could go in another room, which the owner was very helful, the staff was very helfull especially ( Alice) meal was excellent and we slept well after having a walk up Hallam moors, second day we went out to bakewell, coming back our room the cleaning staff did not make our bed as it was how I left it or changed our towels or replaced the tea and coffee, but we did not complain as we thought this was the normal practice, we had second meal in pub on the second night, the staff again was good especially (lucie) but it was a bit disappointed for two of us, we compained and said we could have a free coffee but we declined, in morning the owner was very apologetic as we left as the staff had informed him of our meal situation. We would stay here again and have told family and friends too who like to do walking and biking

The location of the hotel is great if you have a car. Sheffield's Ecclesall Road is only 3 miles drive for a great range of restaurants and nightlife. In the other direction you have the Peak District with great walks just a mile or so from the hotel.
Had some food at the hotel which was nice and reasonably priced. The rooms were about the same price as a TravelLodge. The room was a decent size and clean. The only downside was there was no complimentary soap, only some gel that was sealed to the side of the shower and the radiator was leaking. The temperature in the room seemed to get very hot at night and the control didn't seem to effect the radiator (or turn it off). But besides that it was a good location for us to see Sheffield and the Peak. The staff were very friendly and I would stay here again.

After sitting to eat, paying £40+ for food, watching people come and go, being fed and watered, we were still waiting for our food after an hour. We'd only ordered a jacket potato and a panini!!!! We had to gather our own cutlery and condiments, knives were dirty. When enquiring to the delay, no excuse, no sympathy. We had a 3 year old who was hungry and frustrated, absolutely appalling. Never going again!! Avoid if you actually want to be fed.

We stayed at Norfolk Arms this bank holiday whilst visiting family in Sheffield. The views from the hotel garden were Magnificent, overlooking rolling hills and the Alpaca farm with Sheffield in the distance. We stayed in the Mayfield room, which had a four poster bed, gorgeous views over the hills, was really spacious and a had lovely freestanding bath in the un-suite. The staff were really friendly and polite and checked that everything was ok for us. Will definately be staying here again.

Room Tip: It is well worth the upgrade for the Mayfield suite
