Booked this hotel for a weekend getaway and wasn't disappointed. We stayed in the suite with four poster bed, roll-top bath and views over the edges of the peak district after receiving a complimentary upgrade. The room was beautifully furnished, comfortable, and only lacked a shower in what was otherwise perfect. The rest of the hotel is a mix of character charm and modern furnishings. The roaring fires were very welcome on a cold and rainy evening.

We ate in the hotel restaurant from a Valentines special menu. Cannot fault the quality of the food and at £16pp for a three course meal it represented great value. The soup and steak were particulary good and all ingredients were handled well. We also enjoyed a full English for breakfast, worth eating for the sausage alone. We didn't have time to sample the standard menu but given the standard of the food we ate we would be confident of similar quality and value.

What raises the standard of the Norfolk Arms above other places where we have stayed is the staff. Friendly, approachable, attentive, they were without exception a genuine pleasure to be around. Amanda who helped rearrange our booking when we had car trouble, Sam who kept the Black Sheep flowing and dealt with our dietary needs, Amy who makes the best Moscow Mule cocktail without having made one before, Matthew who looked after us on arrival and until we left, Bill for the banter, Steve for the £5 voucher off our next stay, and Becky for the brecky and her (mostly) excellent taste in music. A great big thank you to all of you and those who we didn't meet behind the scenes.

Will definitely be going back, and often.

Lovely hotel on the edge of the peak district. Lovely room with multi channel TV and a well equiped bathroom.
Free wi-fi in rooms

The restaurant, bar area is spacious and has a welcoming log fire. Food is above average pub standard and reasonably priced.

The bar has a few different local real ales on offer (very nice too) and the service here was quick and friendly

Breakfast is of a good standard and there is a good choice on offer

My only criticism comes from the fact that when I went to settle my bill at 8am, the only member of staff present couldnt access the hotel email system to retrieve the email which confirmed my room had been paid in advance over the phone, the day before. This meant I had to wait around til 9am until a different member of staff came on duty.

That aside, I would certainly go back when revisiting the Chesterfield area

Really excellent place and great location, on hills to south of Sheffield overlooking city. Rooms all recently refurbished to a very high standard; lovely deep bath, and al that one would want. However, if I am permitted a niggle or two.. Slightly let down in morning as no one asked if all OK, etc - and that would probably have avoided this! Room phone wasn't working; the lovely flat-screen digital TV managed to beat me into submission in its operation - may have been a faulty controller, but most unusually I could not fathom out how to access some hidden functions (sleep/alarm/EPG, etc). No welcome pack or instructions in room, which might have answered these issues. Powerful radiator - but hidden behind floor length very thick curtains. No easy-access power sockets to use on the (fairly small) table (for laptop, phone charger, etc). I am being picky - yes, I could have gone downstairs, but tv and phone noticed only when already ready for bed. Breakfast for some reason had not been included in my company pre-paid account (but night staff were very accommodating and added it in). I think I was just frustrated that when I thought at last something was perfect, these slight niggles arise...

Stayed for my birthday and romantic break. The hotel is a beautiful old building which has plenty of old charm. In the bar there are beams, mullioned windows and fires with leather armchairs, sofas and an excellent choice of beers. The rooms which are all en suite, are more modern than the other rooms. Everything was immaculately clean and the staff extremely friendly and helpful. There are some beautiful walks as soon as you step outside. Ecclesall Road with its many restaurants is only a 5 min drive into Sheffield. Would recommend this hotel for couples wanting a quiet break. Definately not for children.

Once entering the hotel we were looked after superbly. The brilliant service really made our stay truly outstanding. I found myself repeatedly saying Thank You. The hotel itself was very comfortable and a lovely warm feel. My partner is not very mobile so we were given a hand with our luggage and always greeted by staff who continually offered support and assistance. We found the breakfast to be enjoyable and once again the service was great. At reception we were given information when requested and even an umbrella as it began to rain. Overall we were well treated and really enjoyed our stay here. We truly believe that we got value for money

This used to be a old pub that has been modernised and extended without losing the old charm. There are about 10 bedrooms of reasonably good quality. Bed was good and slept well.
Meals and breakfast available in the pub area which were excellent and good value. Going back to stay there again soon.
Great location at Ringinglow with superb views and access to Peak District.

we stayed for 1 night after seeing a lovely well presented website. The staff were helpful if a little untidily presented on arrival and gave us complicated directions to a simple to find room which featured a non secure lock on the inside and a broken curtain rail. The hygeine standard was generally good, but shortcuts were noticable such as a duvet tucked halfway under the bed with the cover only half on! The bed was very comfortable but we were in a converted stable which was very loud with noise audible from next rooms and staff talking loudly at 10 at night then wheeling bins around at 7am! I would recommend this hotel especially with the very fast wireless, but would request a main building room and go elsewhere for breakfast as the prices are extortionate for a simple menu.
